With the addition of Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) and AutoCamp to Hilton’s portfolio, some have been wondering how the various credits available on Hilton Amex cards will be applied to stays at those brands – if at all.

Greg reached out to Hilton to find out and we now have confirmation about how each of the credits will – or won’t – be applied.

Small Luxury Hotels SLH AutoCamp Hilton

As a quick recap, here are the different Hilton-related credits that you can find on certain cards:

  • Hilton Aspire – $200 twice-annual credit at Hilton Resorts ($200 January-June and $200 July-December)
  • Hilton Surpass – $50 credit each quarter at properties in the Hilton portfolio (January-March, April-June, July-September and October-December)
  • Hilton Business – $60 credit each quarter at properties in the Hilton portfolio (January-March, April-June, July-September and October-December)

Much of the uncertainty regarding these credits related to the Aspire’s resort credit. Some SLH and AutoCamp properties have the word ‘resort’ in their name, so that led people to believe that those properties might be eligible for the $200 twice-annual credit.

Unfortunately not.

Here’s the confirmation we received from Hilton:

Only the Aspire resort credit is excluded. Our Card Members will receive the Hilton accelerator & Hilton related statement credits for AutoCamp & participating SLH properties when booked through a Hilton channel.

As you can see, no SLH or AutoCamp properties are eligible for the Aspire credit. The good news is that the $50 and $60 quarterly credits on the Surpass and Business cards respectively can be used at these two new brands to Hilton’s portfolio. Even if you’re booking award stays at those properties, you could charge meals, drinks, spa treatments, pet fees, parking fees, etc. to your room.

Looking at 2 Hilton properties in Seattle area and both have resorts in their name and neither honors Aspire $200 resort credit.

I’m curious if SLH charges (room + incidentals) trigger Hilton category multipliers on the Hilton AMEX cards, I can’t really tell from this piece and the Hilton rep’s response about “accelerator”?

Can those of us that opt to transform those $50 quarterly credits into gift cards then turn around and use those gift cards at SLH properties?

^^^^ THIS! I called Hilton asking if SLH takes Hilton GCs and the summary was, ‘we don’t know, varies from property to property’. I doubt that is accurate….

I was just about to ask the same question. Following.

@Greg, can you do us a solid and ask your Hilton contacts this question for us? Thanks in advance!

I tried emailing the Hilton gift card folks but got a canned response based on the website since I was not sure Autocamp is under the Hilton portfolio. I think it is more of a partnership

Greg The Frequent Miler

It’s not looking good. Answer from Hilton so far: “For AutoCamp, not at this time. I’m triple checking on SLH, but I don’t believe so.”
