I believe these offers are historical high public offers on either card. They both provide excellent value for meeting the spend. The Platinum Delta SkyMiles is a much more rewarding card long-term for Delta flyers who can maximize the use of the companion certificate and need help with MQMs for status qualification, but the signup bonus on the Gold card makes it an attractive offer if you have never had the card before. Note that both offers exclude those who have or have had the card at any time in the past.
