At the beginning of the month, I checked out from a 30-night Hyatt stay that was aimed at earning Hyatt Globalist status. I wrote a post when those 30 elite nights posted to my account as it gave me instant Globalist status under the reduced 2021 requirements. I then updated that post late last week when my 30 bonus nights posted a few days later, giving me 60 elite qualifying nights and all of the associated milestone benefits. Then last night, I received an email from my assigned My Hyatt Concierge, rounding out all of the benefits we hoped and expected to receive at 60 nights.

This was only a small slice of the massive corner ocean view suite that I got at the Grand Hyatt Kauai on a Guest of Honor stay a couple of years ago. If my concierge can help me get this room again, I’ll be thrilled.

I was excited about this final milestone benefit, a My Hyatt Concierge, specifically because of the time savings in terms of making phone calls to apply suite upgrade awards or make special requests. Keep in mind that this benefit is reserved for those who earn 60 elite nights in the World of Hyatt program. Given the current Bonus Journeys promotion, you can earn 60 elite nights with just 30 nights spent at Hyatt properties before the end of February 2021 provided that you register by January 15th.

Note that some members were incorrectly told last week that access to a My Hyatt Concierge was a benefit that would not be bestowed upon those whose 60 nights are earned as a result of the Bonus Journeys promotion. I think there was some confusion among Hyatt staff because of the fact that that Hyatt Globalist reduced status requirements for 2021 only require 30 elite nights this year (which can be achieved with 15 nights during Bonus Journeys) whereas the My Hyatt Concierge is a 60-night milestone benefit. We followed up with our Hyatt contacts and eventually confirmed late last week that members who earn 60 elite nights, even through bonus elite night credits awarded as part of Bonus Journeys, will indeed be assigned a My Hyatt Concierge (this is automatically assigned and my understanding is that you can not request a specific concierge). We were told that a concierge would be assigned to a member who earns 60 nights within two weeks of reaching that milestone.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the timeline has proved to be faster as my concierge has already been assigned just a few days after reaching 60 elite nights. My Hyatt concierge reached out to let me know that she can help me with the following tasks:

  • Redeem Free Nights
  • Arrange Suite Upgrades
  • Book Guest of Honor reservations
  • Assist with special requests like dinner reservations or spa appointments
  • Register you for World of Hyatt promotions
  • Research hotels and resorts to find the one you’ll enjoy most
  • Help plan activities for you and your loved ones and lots more

While I can generally handle redeeming my own free nights via points or certificates, I can imagine times where it may be helpful to have someone else handle it. Things like applying suite upgrades, booking guest of honor reservations, and helping with special requests will be very helpful for me. I’ll probably still register myself for promotions and do my own trip planning, but a little extra help never hurts.

I was impressed that my concierge gave me not only email and phone contact info, but her weekly schedule. That last part will be helpful when I have a time-sensitive request since I know when I can expect to find her in the office.

Overall, I am irrationally excited about reaching Hyatt Globalist status given how little I anticipate traveling over the next few months, though I hope to make up for lost time later this year and almost certainly next year. I’ll be glad to have some help making the most of it.

I achieved globalist status in February 2021 with the COVID bonuses. Tonight I tweeted with Hyatt concierge as to why I was not assigned a concierge and they responded that I have not completed 60 qualifying nights. Any ideas on how to get this resolved? Thanks.

Laurie

Currently, I have 40 qualifying nights per my account. I achieved globalist status in February through Hyatt’s bonus journey promo at the beginning of the year. Not sure if there is a difference between “qualifying” and “elite” nights.

Jake508

I have now 62 qualifying nights most from the great program that ended earlier this year, all the awards came in 30k point cert, a 15k cert and the $100 hyatt GC, concierge is the only perk they are holding back?!? When asked when do I get someone assigned to me the rep told me it’s for 60 night guests that actually stayed in NOT from the 2x night program?!?

So I’m a 60+ qualifying night guest with almost all the perks but no concierge

I tried calling but they can’t seem to help, now what?

Greg The Frequent Miler

How long ago did you reach 60 nights? It is known to take a while before they assign you a concierge. If it’s been over, say, 3 or 4 weeks, then I’d recommend reaching out to Hyatt Concierge on Twitter so see if they can fix this for you.

Jake508

Just called again, 60 qualifying nights getting globalist (from a promotion) excludes concierge perk but all the other milestone pluses were quickly added

Reached 62 nights late January, all the plus’s added to account early February

Jake508

Update: Twitter team fixed it! My concierge just now emailed me.

Josh

Are they able to help with situations where you have booked a standard suite b/c no regular rooms are available, but you want to “downgrade” to a regular room then to apply the suite upgrade to get back to your original room?

Greg The Frequent Miler

They should be able to help with that, yes. Note though that Hyatt Concierge on Twitter helped me do that as well and you don’t need any status to get help from them.

Bill

Nick, question for you about the 4 confirmed suite upgrades for hitting 60 elite nights. If I hit 60 nights this year, will I get the 4 suite upgrades this year and 4 more next year?

Bill

Thank you very much for the quick and very helpful answer!

About to make Globalist for the first time due to the Covid promos. As I book future stays to enjoy the benefits, the only disappointment I’ve encountered is learning that some of their boutique brands don’t give Globalists breakfast — and I’m not sure what other benefits they don’t honor. Like I think the “Unbound” hotels give breakfast but the “Destination” don’t. What the heck? I (and others) would certainly appreciate a write up of these quirks so we avoid disappointment in the future.

With the new 30 night requirement for 2021, if I earn 30 nights through charging on the Hyatt Visa, I assume that will work too. Correct?

mark

If you get a dud concierge, how do you request a new concierge?

Liz

THIS! Mine says nope to everything I have asked for and the one thing she did do she messed up.

Christian

I’ve found it great to have a concierge. Mine has been super helpful on suite upgrade certificates and special requests. The regular Hyatt people are quite good but she’s very good.

stvr

you’re like the last person who would need a hyatt concierge lol

dina lapoint

I just got access for the first time to a Hyatt Conierge, and so far they’ve already helped by applying a tsu and our keeping an eye out for applying another if a standard suite opens up at the Grand Hyatt Kauai just like you mentioned in the article. Im looking forward to trying the service and so far seems good!

Ron

Nick,
I qualified for Globalist in 2020 and was assigned a Concierge shortly thereafter. I have found her to be incredibly helpful. She helped with a Guest of Honor booking, made sure my brief award stay at a Residence Club got properly posted (they couldn’t get it straight for weeks), and helped apply suite upgrade awards quickly and correctly. She also made sure cancellations happened correctly and unused suite upgrades were returned properly. Of course, if you’re not travelling won’t be nearly as helpful. I presume if I requalify at the 60 night level I will keep the same Concierge, as that gives me additional enthusiasm to chose Hyatt for bookings once I pass the 30 night Globalist threshold.

BigDog76

Congratulations Nick. I need some of your contacts since I’m still waiting to get a My Hyatt Concierge assigned. I attained Globalist December 9th. After making an inquiry, I was told they were “updating end of the year details” and would reach out within two weeks. Hyatt has disappointed me.

Andy

Concierge is pretty much worthless. I have better and faster response with twitter.

Maria

Is it worth getting Hyatt Concierge?
I took advantage of double nights bonus and slashed starts requirement and hit Globalist thru the mattress run.
I am now thinking if I use my points to do another 15 nights (15*2) by Feb 28 to get 60 nights milestones for Hyatt Concierge.
Advice? Thoughts?

weadasmiles

The only part I’m not digging about getting Globalist in one crack is that cat 1-7 free night cert expires in 6 months (cat 1-4 as well). Other than that… Cheers!

Oliver

This year both free nights will expire 12/31/2021.

PS Actually the Hyatt site says that nights earned in 2020 with a 2021 expiration date will now have a 12/31/2021 expiration date. I did not spot any language dealing with nights earned in 2021.

I probably use points for my another 25 nights. The hotels in Cali are soaring. I used to book Hotel AVante/ West Palm Hotel for mattress run, where were the lowest in California. Usually around 70-75/ night (pre-taz). When I check the hotels today, they are pushed up to 62 to 87 per night (pre-tax).
So the difference between cash and points are just 100 difference.

You are right I am eyeing the FN certificate(s) and suite upgrades. Do anyone know the suit upgrade good for 4 people staying together? I am a family of 4. Kids are 10 and 14.

Hal

The main value of the concierge is to email them to book stuff you can’t online.
For example, if you combine a points stay with a paid stay or with a certificate stay and want to apply a DSU to all the nights, they can do that.

DoctorBro

DSU with a cert stay? I’m a decade in and cannot remember that being allowed…

Hal

Yup.. my concierge has been able to do it numerous times.
