In addition to offering free Thanksgiving food and cashback on gift cards, the Ibotta app can also function as a shopping portal. They’re currently offering $10 bonus cashback on top of regular cashback when booking a $200+ Best Western stay.
The Deal
- Earn $10 bonus cashback when booking a $200 Best Western stay after tapping through to Best Western’s website from the Ibotta app.
- Stephen’s Ibotta referral link
- Greg’s Ibotta referral link.
Key Terms
- Expires December 1, 2020 at 2am.
Quick Thoughts
The $10 bonus is on top of the 2% standard cashback you’ll receive by booking a stay with Best Western after clicking through to them from Ibotta. If your room rate comes to exactly $200, you’ll earn $14 cashback total which is a 7% return. That’s better than anything you’ll get via other shopping portals right now (see here and here).
Even a $400 stay could still be worth booking this way. You’d earn $18 cashback based on the 2% cashback rate and $10 bonus which is a 4.5% return. Only Wells Fargo Rewards is offering more than that (5%) at the time of publishing.
The exception could be the American Airlines and United shopping portals. All the airline shopping portals are offering bonuses right now to take advantage of people doing early holiday shopping. Best Western is an option on both the American and United portals (but not the Alaska, Delta or Southwest portals for some reason), so hitting one of the bonus thresholds for one of their promotions could earn you miles in excess of the value you’d get from this Ibotta offer.
The Ibotta app sometimes has additional offers such as ‘Complete x number of offers and earn $x bonus’. That seems to apply to any offers in the app and presumably includes offers like this Best Western deal, so this might help contribute towards you earning an additional buck or two.
The offer expires on December 1, but I don’t know exactly how that works. If you book a stay now for after that date, I’m not sure if that’ll track or not. I suspect not, but perhaps a non-refundable stay for after December 1 which you pay for now might track (or might not).
Seeing as this is effectively a shopping portal offer, it’ll stack nicely with these other Best Western deals right now:
- Best Western: Get $25 Bonus Card For Every Night You Stay (Limit 4 Nights) Through 11/23/20
- Best Western Amex Offer: Spend $100 & Get $20 Back (Ends 12/31/20)
- Best Western Chase Offer: Earn 10% Back On $100-$290 Of Spend
