IHG has opened registration for its Q2/Q3 2019 Accelerate promotion which they’ve called ‘Make Every Stay Count’. If my targeted offer is anything to go by though, stays are going to count for very little.
Update: Numerous people have commented below stating that they’ve been unable to register. It therefore seems like IHG is having issues with the promotion, so if you’re having the same problem, try registering again in a day or two.
The Deal
- Register for the IHG Accelerate promotion covering Q2/Q3 2019.
- Direct link to registration.
Key Terms
- Must register for the promotion by June 18, 2019.
- Valid for stays between May 1, 2019 and August 31, 2019.
Quick Thoughts
I usually love IHG’s Accelerate promotions as they tend to be rewarding enough to influence my booking behavior. I completed enough tasks in the last promotion to earn the achievement bonus, specifically paying a little more for one stay in order to get the third brand I needed to earn a hefty bonus for one of the tasks and ultimately get that achievement bonus. I even did a mattress run in 2017 to earn more than 35,000 points for a one night stay costing less than $60.
This time around though, my offer is completely underwhelming. I’m in the process of researching our accommodation options for June and July and had been looking forward to seeing what IHG would be offering after their current promotion ended. As it turns out, not much:
Even if I completed all these tasks, I’d only earn 11,600 bonus points. For comparison, I earned more than 50,000 bonus points from the Q1 promo.
My wife’s offer isn’t much better:
Hers is offering pretty much double the number of points, but only if completing all three tasks. We normally book prepaid rates as they’re cheaper than flexible rates which are the only way to book bonus points packages, so it’s doubtful we’d earn that bonus.
Our offers are therefore going to have zero influence on whether or not we stay at IHG properties in the coming months. In fact, it’ll likely encourage us to stay at other hotel chains that will reward us for our stays – not the result that hotel loyalty scheme promotions should be looking for.
Based on comments from past IHG promotions though, it seems like I might’ve lucked out with my past offers compared to what some of you received. I guess it’s therefore only fair (albeit disappointing) that I received an underwhelming offer this time around. How about you though – did you receive any decent bonuses for completing tasks? Let us known in the comments below.
[…] IHG Accelerate Q2/Q3 2019 Promo: Discover Your Targeted Offer (Expires 8/31/19) […]
If I have already made reservations for upcoming stays prior to my registration, am i still eligible for points? I made reservations like two months ago for mid-May stay and registered for this accelerate in early May.
Yep, one of nice things about these Accelerate promotions is that any stay that occurs during the promotion period is eligible, even if it was booked before the promotion was launched.
screwed over. I got 59,000 in offers
Great points you have made….the Accelerate program has been helpful and rewarding in the past, but it appears the more you stay with IHG, the less they will reward you with this program. My Q1 targets were almost impossible to achieve, and now the Q2 targets are equally impossible and even if achieved, the bonus points are horrible. I stay 2 to 4 nights a week at IHG and it looks like the algorithms of this program is geared to newer customers and not Spire Elites like myself that stay very frequently.
[…] noticed Stephen posted on Frequent Miler’s IHG Accelerate post that he and his wife only got offers for 11,000 and 22,000 point […]
If you can’t see yours, you can email them and ask them. They got back to me in one day.
I haven’t seen my last accelerate bonuses post yet. Completed a few stays this month that should have triggered 20-30k points. How long do they usually take?
I think mine posted within a week or so.
Thanks. Last one was exactly a week ago, so I guess I’ll give it a minute. I also got the error message when trying to register for the new accelerate, but then immediately got an email that said I had successfully registered. No sign of it on the website though. Strange.
I received an offer for 70,100 points and my wife an offer for 23,700 points. My offer, with two Saturday stays, may be doable. Hope I read it right?
Can you copy and paste the terms here like Weever did above? We can then take a look to see if that’ll complete your tasks.
Blaine, earn 70,100 total bonus points when you complete your offers.

OK, so you’d have to have a few stays to receive all 70,100 points:
1) Stay two weekends (Friday & Saturday or Saturday & Sunday) at different brands and book bonus points packages for each. This will complete the ‘Discover Our Brands’, ‘Saturday Stays’, ‘Stay for Less & Earn’ and ‘Earn More, Faster’ bonuses.
2) Book a one night stay using Points & Cash. If you have a 10,000 point property near you, you should be able to do this for 5,000 points + something like $35. You’d almost earn that number of points back, so really your only outlay for this stay would be ~$35 which might be worth a mattress run if you didn’t need a one night stay somewhere.
So by booking a total of five nights, you could earn all 70,100 points which is a great deal if you’d have been booking paid stays for a couple of weekends anyway.
I hope that helps, but let me know if you have any questions.
After reading the terms (below), it looks like a minimum of staying 3 nights . Two consecutive nights here and having to stay at two different IHG properties. Any advice is appreciated. I’ve only completed one of these because of the lousy offers I usually receive.
Stay 2 weekend(s), including a Saturday night and another night, and earn 12,000 bonus points.
Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member and must register your member number in advance to participate in this Offer (“Registration”). Number of bonus points listed above will be awarded after required number of Qualifying Stays, including a Saturday night, and for a minimum of 2 consecutive nights, have been consumed by the member between May 1, 2019 and August 31, 2019 (both dates inclusive) at InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Hotel Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites®, Kimpton®, EVEN®, avid™, voco™, Regent® Hotels & Resorts or HUALUXE® hotels worldwide.
A Saturday Stay is defined as any Stay with an unlimited number of nights having a Saturday night included within the Stay period. This Offer is subject to the General Promotion Terms and standard IHG® Rewards Club Membership Terms and Conditions and earning structure, which can be obtained by visiting http://www.ihgrewardsclub.com. To the extent permitted by applicable law, IHG® Rewards Club reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Promotion/Offer at any time with or without notice. To the extent permitted by applicable law, IHG® reserves the right of final interpretation of this Offer.
This particular task requires staying a total of four nights as two separate weekends are required.
In reading the terms again for the weekend stay(s) this is what I read and was hoping it meant just one weekend with a Saturday included. ” including a Saturday night, and for a minimum of 2 consecutive nights, have been consumed by the member between May 1, 2019 and August 31, 2019 ” Am I wrong in hoping for just one weekend?
I’m afraid so – the description of the task specifically says ‘Stay 2 weekend(s)’.
That wording is just defining what’s meant as a ‘weekend’.

I am not sure if Points & Cash stay counts for first 4 nights
That’s a pretty decent offer overall – I wish I’d gotten that one as I’d probably be able to complete it fairly easily.
Based on past promotions, Points & Cash stays only count for the specific tasks requiring a Points & Cash stay – it wouldn’t be valid for the 8,000 point ‘Stay More, Earn More’ bonus. If you click on the terms next to each offer, it gives a more complete list of which types of stays are eligible – I suspect it’ll specifically state that Points & Cash are excluded for that one.
I managed to register but only got one offer….Double Your Stay
Earn double points on every stay, starting with your second stay, up to 40,000 bonus points.
No reason to stay at IHG
Yep same here
The fact that everyone seems to be getting the same messages not allowing them to register suggests that IHG is having some kind of issue with the promotion – I’ll update the post. If that’s the case, I’d try registering again in a day or two.
I also manage 4 accounts. 1 said not eligible, 2 said earning preference = not eligible, and 1 was able to register.
Getting the same lame message.
I also got the ‘not eligible for this campaign’ message
I manage four IHG accounts (mine, my wife’s, mom and aunt) and for two of them I got the earning preferences denial and for the other two I got the “you’re not eligible” notice. Not much of a “promotion” if no one actually qualifies for it. I’ve always felt the IHG IT department consisted of a bunch of music majors (no offense to all you music majors – I couldn’t play an instrument to save my life). But you should do what you’re good at and IHG is NOT good at IT.
“We’re sorry, but you’re not eligible for this campaign.”
Which I read as, “We’re sorry, please check with Hilton and Marriott.”
