IHG Rewards has opened registration for its new promotion which offers double points on all paid stays starting from your first stay.

Key Terms
- You must be an IHG® Rewards member to participate in the “2X Unlimited” promotion (“Promotion”). Members can pre-register for this Promotion from 19 January 2022 until 31 January 2022. Members will be able to register, stay and earn for this Promotion beginning 1 February 2022 and ending on 31 March 2022 (“Promotion Period”). By clicking the “click to register” button for the Promotion, a member is registering for the 2X Unlimited Promotion and accepting these Terms & Conditions.
- Upon registration for the Promotion, a member will be able to earn 2X points on qualifying room nights during the period of 1 February 2022 until 31 March 2022 that are part of a Qualifying Stay. Room nights prior to registration for the Promotion, as well as any room nights outside of the Promotion Period, will not be eligible for bonus points under the Promotion. The time needed for awarding points can vary with each promotion, so please allow up to 6 weeks for the bonus points to be posted to your account.
- Qualifying Stays are a minimum 1-night stay booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 for each night. Note that multiple checkouts for consecutive qualifying nights at the same hotel may count as only one (1) Qualifying Stay; non-consecutive qualifying nights at the same hotel may count as separate Qualifying Stays. Only one room per member per Qualifying Stay will be eligible for the applicable points, or other benefits (if any) available under the Promotion. If more than one member checks into the same room, only one member is eligible for the applicable points, or other benefits (if any), available under the Promotion. If a member books more than one room on the same night, they will only receive bonus points for the Promotion on the room with the higher room rate for each qualifying night. - The 2X Unlimited promotion is not subject to a promotional bonus points cap, so members are eligible to earn an unlimited number of bonus points during the Promotion Period. Members will be awarded points based on qualifying nights until 31 March 2022 at IHG Hotels & Resorts, with some exclusions. The Promotion is available only at participating Six Senses® Hotels, Resorts & Spas, as identified on each hotel’s booking page.
Quick Thoughts
A double points offer isn’t the most exciting or innovative of promotions, but it’s always better to have some kind of promotion than nothing. It’s also good that you can earn double points from your first stay rather than having to wait until your second stay for the bonus points earning opportunity to kick in.
If you have Spire Elite status (soon to be Diamond Elite status – more about that in a separate post coming later), you’ll be able to earn up to 40x points per dollar. That’s because you can earn up to 10x per dollar as base points, up to 10x as bonus points from this promotion, up to 10x bonus points from having Spire status and 10x if paying with an IHG Premier credit card.
I say ‘up to’ because although most of IHG’s brands earn 10x base points per dollar on paid stays, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites earn 5x base points per dollar. Seeing as both this promotion and the bonus you earn from status is based on those base points, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites stays will only earn 5x bonus points from this promo; Spire members will likewise earn 5x as the bonus from having that status level. That means stays at those two all-suite brands can only earn you up to 25x.
As always, it’s worth registering for this promotion even if you don’t currently have any plans to stay at IHG properties.

This is confusing. I know it says the 2x nights start February first, but when I click on the offer in my account, THIS is the message I get:

I do need to start my stay BEFORE February 1, but if I had to, I would skip one night and re-check in on 2/1 if that would give me the points. So why does it say NOW through March 31 on my account? Anyone see it reading like this? Thanks
I think the ‘Now’ might be an error in their wording.
Will this double your american airlines points if you elect to receive those instead?
