Quick Thoughts
Kroger has offered several 4x fuel points digital coupons in recent weeks, but most of those have only been valid from Friday to Sunday of that particular week. These digital coupons on the other hand are valid for two weeks, giving you more flexibility as to when you buy them.
Kroger’s fuel points can be used to get discounted gas on up to 35 gallons per fill up. That means you can save up to 14% on gas, potentially making it worth buying the fixed value Visa and Mastercard gift cards despite the $100 cards having activation fees of ~$6. Similarly, that can make this profitable for reselling high value gift cards like Amazon, eBay, etc.
So I am new to Kroger. You buy a gift card, say a Visa gift card online from Kroger and use a digital coupon right? You then get 4X Kroger Points but what good are Kroger points and where do they go if you do not have a Kroger near by? I could by them for a family member who lives by a Kroger but do they have to fill up with Gas at Kroger? Visa/Mastercards i thought could be used anywhere so how do you get the 4X Kroger points? Are they put on a Kroger card of some sort.
Excuse me but I am new to Kroger.
If you buy it online, I think it gives you the 4x automatically, but it’s still best to add the digital coupon anyway just in case.
Kroger points are fuel points and they can be redeemed for discounts on gas. For example, buying a $250 gift card during a 4x event means you earn 1,000 fuel points. 1,000 fuel points can be used to get $1 off per gallon on up to $35 gallons. If you spent $500 on gift cards, you’d have 2,000 fuel points. I think you can only use 1,000 points at a time, so that’d mean you can save on two fill-ups.
The fuel points expire at the end of the month after you earn them. So if you earn fuel points this month, they’ll expire on April 30.
Depending on where you live, you can sometimes use fuel points at over gas stations like Shell and BP. You’d just enter your Kroger Plus number. That’s the Kroger card that the fuel points are linked to. Kroger owns several different grocery store chains (Ralph’s, Harris Teeter and more), so you can earn points when shopping at those stores too.
I got a POS printed color coupon but it does not limit to $100. Does that mean even $500 will give 4x?
I suspect that they’ve simply neglected to include those terms on there, but it’d be fantastic if variable load cards were included after all.
Do gift cards purchased through the portal link as groceries for the doscover category bonus?
I think they’re processed by GiftCardMall when buying them online, so it wouldn’t code as 5% for Discover.
Where can we redeem the Kroger gas rewards? I’m in NYC and I thought that I can redeem Kroger gas rewards at Shell stations but I asked around my area and it sounds like they can’t be redeemed with Shell. Any suggestions?
I’m afraid I’m not sure – different states have different fuel partners and even different affiliate stores have different fuel partners. For example, in some states you can redeem at Shell, while Harris Teeter has a partnership with BP.
I use kroger gift card promotions a lot. Unfortunately, the closest kroger store/gas station you can get from NYC are in OH, VA, TN, GA etc. There used to be a kroger in PA, but i think they closed them. For those of us who have business that require a lot of driving, I save quiet a bit on gas. Good luck.
