Get more than $2K back on $50K spend before it’s too late

A fine wine might get better with age, but these deals have an expiration date.  We wrote about them, you read about them — now it’s time to go get them before they’re gone.

Expiring tonight (at midnight Eastern time)

• Get a $10 Target gift card for $5: It’s always nice to save a couple of bucks on stuff you were already going to buy. If you’re interested, grab this one before it’s gone.

Expiring February 22

• Blue for Business Offer Extended through 2/22/17: 10K + 10X & 2X Kickers: This week, Greg wrote about the best rewards for $50K spend, and in our opinion this seems like the winner.  Membership Rewards has plenty of great transfer partners.  Better yet, the Business Platinum 50% rebate when paying with points really enhances the value of Membership Rewards. With airfares dropping, there are a growing number of opportunities to fly for fewer points than an award ticket while simultaneously earning miles — sometimes with a nice bonus.  This offer was previously set to expire earlier this month, but was extended.  It’s worth a look.

• While the best of the Europe DIRT CHEAP fares are gone, I’m still seeing dates available for $99.99 one way from Boston to Reykjavik, Iceland.  Flights back to Boston start around $150 one way.  While not as hot as San Francisco to a number of European destinations from $70 one way, the $100 one-way fares are still a good value. The Volotea promotional fares within Europe from 5 Euros one way seem to still be alive. Flights can be cheaper than train tickets if you pack light.
• 30X Amtrak at 1800Flowers — The terms of this deal state that it is good through February 28th, but I speculated that it could get pulled early.  We have the perfect storm: 1) Amtrak points have relatively high value. 2) A lot of people with the Amex Offer are probably using it.  3) A lot of people are sending flowers this week. That three-pronged attack makes it unlikely to last to the end of the month in my opinion. I’d use this one sooner rather than later.

Sign-up Bonuses

• 35K point sign up bonuses on both Amex SPG cards: These offers are terrific. Starpoints are very valuable not only towards Starwood hotels, but also in terms of transfer to airline miles or Marriott Rewards. If you’ve been considering these cards, now is a great time to jump. (Expires 4/5/17)
• 25K sign up bonus on the Cathay Pacific credit card: I’d probably pass on this one, but it’s a new offer out that may be of interest to some.
• 20K Bonus Membership Rewards points on $1K spend at Air France via Amex Offers. This offer is very strong as you’d both earn 20k Membership Rewards points plus miles for your flight.  If this offer interests you, add it to your account sooner rather than later as offers do sometimes disappear before the expiration date.
