Fiji Airways currently has a lot of business class award availability on flights to Australia and New Zealand which, depending on how you book, can even include a free stopover in Fiji along the way. Book quickly though because award availability is already starting to dry up.
The Deal
- Book business class awards on Fiji Airways to Australia and New Zealand.
Key Terms
- Various dates February to June 2023.
Quick Thoughts
Premium cabin award availability to Australia and New Zealand can be hard to come by so having weeks and weeks of availability depending on the month is a rarity. Depending on where you’d be flying from and to, there are good options from February to June 2023.
There’s some, but minimal, availability from San Francisco to Sydney in March:
Availability is much better from Los Angeles to Sydney in February with at least one business class ticket being available on almost three weeks of that month.
Availability for two people is harder to come by, but it’s there on a few days:
It’s not only Sydney that’s an option for down under. If you’d rather visit New Zealand there’s a lot of good availability to Auckland. This is for one person from LAX in March…
…while this is for two people that same month. Not as comprehensive, but still more availability for two people than you’d normally expect to see in their summer/early fall.
The screenshots above are from American Airlines where you’re looking at 80,000 AAdvantage miles per person each way. Another option is Alaska Airlines which costs only 55,000 Mileage Plan miles per person each way which can include a stopover in Fiji along the way for free.
If you’re interested in booking any of these flights, do it ASAP because award availability has already started disappearing on some of the days shown in the screenshots above.

I was booked SFO-NAN, then 6 days later NAN-SYD in late Feb. Only the NAN-SYD was business class. I had set an alert in expert flyer and about 3 days ago I was alerted business class SFO-NAN. Did a chat with Alaska and got the trip booked all in business. Fiji airlines is not lie flat, but one can hope. I have learned that if you get an alert from expert flyer, you better act on it immediately, or the seats will be lost.
dude all of those are 1 pax only. None of those are 2 seats. Amazing deal for folks flying solo
I booked my family of 4 from LAX-NAN. There were multiple days in April with space for 5 passengers in business on the LAX-NAN route (and at the time, I saw a lot of days with two seats to Australia / NZ.
Were you able to book the return flight for your family of four, as well? I was able to find availability on a few different dates for my husband and I from LAX-NAN, but couldn’t find anything reasonable for the return flight.
If Finnair is part of oneworld alliance can you use Finnair points to book these tickets?
