For quite some time it’s been hard to book first class flights on Lufthansa via partner programs unless you’re willing to book at the (relative) last minute.
Well, last minute bookings have become even more last minute as Seats.aero seems to have identified a tightening of when first class awards become bookable through partner programs.
As can be seen on their Lufthansa First Class flight finder page, they’ve identified the following pattern:
Recently, Lufthansa seems to have changed their cadence for releasing first class awards to partners. Most awards are now only made available within 3 days of departure, including on the day of departure itself. Additionally, some routes are only made available in one direction at any given time (i.e. MEX/FRA but not FRA/MEX).
Finding first class award availability with partner programs like Air Canada Aeroplan and United MileagePlus was always much easier when booking same-day or up to three days out, but that now seems to be the rule rather than the norm.

It has been this way for quite some time. Several months, at least.
With the various recent strike disruptions maybe that’s why they tightened the window
I am thinking this as well.
This may all just blow over when the strike is done.
