Marriott Boundless welcome offer now 3x 50k certs + 50k bonus points

For several weeks, the welcome offer on the Marriott Boundless credit has been for 3x 50K free night certificates. That was sweetened a couple of days ago by the addition of 50K bonus points on top of those three free night certificates.

Quick Thoughts

In the past, the welcome offer on the Boundless card has gone as high as 5x 50K free night certificates. While this latest offer isn’t quite as good as that, it is better than the most recent offer and has the added benefit of coming with both free night certificates and bonus points, rather than just one or the other.

That could be particularly useful for anyone with zero or few Marriott points already. That’s because the 50K free night certificates can be topped up with up to 15K points each to book properties costing up to 65K points per night. The 50K bonus points would therefore ensure you have enough points to top up all three certificates if needed.

Be aware that there are different spending requirements for the two parts of the welcome offer though. To earn the free night certificates, you have to spend $3,000 in the first three months, while to earn the 50K bonus points you have to spend a total of $6,000 in the first six months (i.e. an additional $3,000 of spend with an additional three months in which to spend it).

This offer is available via referrals, so if you already have a Chase Marriott card and want to refer your partner to this card (or vice versa), you’d also earn 40,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points from the referral which makes this an even better opportunity.

Had just applied for the Brilliant and the matrix states not to finish completing the MSR until you have finished the Chase one.

With this offer I assume I will need to spend $6K with Chase for the points to post before finishing the AMEX Spend?

Andrew

Pretty nice that this is available via referral, the 5 FNC offers are almost always excluded. This is better for those that can refer between P1 & P2 since you end up with 3x 50K FNCs + 90K points (50K SUB + 40K referral) instead of 5x 50K FNCs, only 10K total point difference.

Marriott’s program is a mess, but that mess means there are still lots of good opportunities to use these certs. Ritz Carlton Sarasota (Florida) and Dove Mountain (Arizona) both have tons of dates bookable with a topped up 50K cert, and not just in the hot summer season. The Westin Moana Surfrider on Waikiki beach has a number of dates you could use these for, including both Thanksgiving week and Spring Break 2026. Westin Hapuna occasionally comes up available with 50K certs as well. It’s possible to book the Westin Whistler during ski season on 50K certs (went last year and loved it – top 3 hotel stay for the year, awesome staff and breakfast elite benefit). A 35K cert got us a stay at Element Albuquerque during the Balloon Fiesta when cash rates were $400 a night.

Has Marriott leadership indicated they don’t care about guests in their loyalty program? Emphatically yes. Hotel owners are their customers. I wouldn’t stockpile millions of Marriott points for the future and they have begun award pricing their most aspirational properties to be untouchable. But if the best you are finding with a 50K cert is a mediocre airport hotel or a roadside stop on a cross country trip… I would encourage you to look again for more opportunities for value.

Ben

This is vaguely tempting, but I have the Brilliant already, so I’ll need to consult the Matrix before applying…

Buzz

I’m still waiting out my 24 month window after cancelling the Bold. We’ll see if this is still available in 4 months.

Such an announcement is welcome. But, with point inflation/devaluation, there are fewer properties at which one can redeem any of Marriott’s certificates . . . not just these particular certificates. Or, fewer times of the year at which one can redeem at a given property. There are Fairfield Inns that were consistently 35k per night that now run over 70k per night at certain times of year. Tenured hobbyists know this. But, those new to the game might not. Best of luck.

Reed

I agree with this completely. Unfortunately, the 50k certs are nearly worthless to me. heck, sometimes the 85k certs are hard to use now that properties often cost 102k points.

Andrew

I have 3 35k cert cards and it’s gotten so hard to use them every year.

This offer is awesome for anyone planning a long weekend to beautiful Tulsa, Oklahoma where YOU are offered the privilege of paying 63,000 points per night for a gorgeous 20-year-old reflagged former Holiday Inn Express masquerading as a Courtyard! You’ll even have 11,000 Marriott Bonvoy points left over after topping off your three 50k certs, which, based on consistent devaluations, might just get you a night sleeping on soiled twin mattress with a Bonvoy sticker on it on the side of Route 66.
