Marriott double elite nights not (yet) working as expected

Update 3/3/21: We received word from Marriott today.  Everyone should see the correct number of elite nights within 14 days after checkout.  If not, contact Marriott for help.  Here’s the specific wording from Marriott: “We are enhancing our fulfillment process and members with qualifying stays — in this specific case includes one paid night — will see the bonus for paid and redemption nights in their accounts within 14 days after checkout. If not, they should reach out to us.”

Remember Marriott’s current double points & double elite nights promo?  And remember that we posted confirmation that stays with a combination of paid nights and award nights will earn double elite credits for all nights?  A reader wrote to us to say that they had booked a three night stay consisting of one paid night and two award nights. Marriott only doubled elite night credit for the paid night and not the award nights.

We reached out to members of our Frequent Miler Insiders Group to see if anyone there had similar experiences. At the time of this writing, two group members reported the same situation:

2 night stay, 35k cert and paid, one reservation number. earned 3 ENCs. CSR says it should be 4, has opened a case, says it will be credited within a week.

and…

Had a 6 night stay (5 award+1paid) posted with only 1 promotional night added, hopefully they’ll fix it (stay ended last Friday)

I reached out to a Marriott contact for more information.  He said that they weren’t aware of the problem but they will now investigate it.  In the past they have resolved similar issues once brought to their attention and so I’m confident that this will be fixed too.  If you have reserved a mixed paid and award stay, I’d recommend going forward as planned.

This same thing happened to me, and I’m trying to get it fixed. So frustrating. I’ve gone back and forth with the Marriott team. If anyone has any advice, I’d love to hear it. I’m so close to Platinum status and if I got my nights doubled, it would put me over the top!

Just saw that the correct double elite nights (10) are now posted in my account after a 5 night stay (only 1 paid night) in February – a week after my Marriott call.

Marriott customer services is the worst. I just got a response of my email request for my stay with paid night and point night; and she said it will take 6-8 weeks to post the double night after the promotional offer end. That is ridiculous. It seems every one has their own saying. Please advised.

How long after checkout (paid stay) are the elite nights posting?

Mine posted in a couple workdays at the same time as regular for a fully paid stay

My paid stay was posted in two days after checkout along with the bonus elite night for the paid night but not the point nights. Nothing has been posted for the double bonus on my point nights— a total of ten nights was missing

I had a 10 night stay (March 5th to March 15th), consisting of 9 award nights and one paid night, in between.
Yet to receive even a single elite night’s credit, let alone double.

When I called customer care, they gave the template reply – “Please wait for 7-10 working days for elite nights to be credited. Double elite nights will take 3 to 4 weeks to credit. We are currently low on staff”.

By contrast, received Hyatt elite nights credit 48 hours after check out and double elite nights credit in under a week after check out.

The two year elite status window is contracting for sure.

any follow-up from Marriott?
It has been more than 2 weeks and I am still missing bonus elite nights from point-paid nights. I got elite nights on cash-paid stays right away. (total 6 nights = 5 points night + 1 paid night –> so far got 7 elite nights)
I called Marriott to open the case. We will see what will happen now…

I had recently completed another a 6-night stay (3/8-3/14, with one paid night + 5 points night). yesterday I got only 7 elite night, including one of my paid night double. Again, missing my bonus reward nights with a total of 10nights, including 5 from my previous stay. It is about time to deposit those nights for us.

Called Marriott Customer Service today regarding missing nights (checkout on 2/21). After providing information of stay, was advised that an internal audit would be done to verify the T&C were met for this promotion. Manual processing could take up to 6 weeks. Anyone receive full night credits yet?

I called on Monday about two stays and got a case number and was told I should get an answer in a week. Later that day, I received a request for a copy of my stay folios.

The bonus for a stay with all paid nights did post properly.

Two stays were each 6 nights with 5 nights points and 1 paid night. I received 7 nights credit rather than 12.

A three night paid stay credited properly for 6 nights.

I have contacted them many times by email and phone calls. They give the same old story — wait for 14-21 days for posting after checkout ( this date had passed). I am sick of it. Never double reward those nights with redemption only for the paid night. They still own me ten nights. I have no faith with Marriott at all.

I am also missing 6 bonus nights for Feb 17-26 (3 paid+6 rewards night) stay.

Correct nights still has not posted. Coming Monday will be three full weeks (15 business days) since checkout date.

Mine haven’t posted either. I think they may respond to individual requests rather than have to scan every account to see if the bonus is due.

It won’t let us apply any discounts (AAA, Senior, etc) to the paid portion of the stay

did cat 1 one paid + 5 points = 6 nights, should have got 12 QNs, got 7 instead. Called, tweeted and emailed, finally an email response yesterday stating they made an error and will deposit the other 5 QNs within 14 days. I quoted the T&C in my email. Evidence-based. BOOM!

Decided to call Marriott customer service yesterday, 10 days after stay. Was told Double Elite nights would post in another week or so. Update to follow. Appreciate your followups as well when nights get posted.

I stayed 2/26 to 3/1, points/credits just posted and I got a total of 6 elite nights. My first night was paid if that matters.

Do we also get elite night credit on the 5th night free?

If it includes a paid night, probably? Good question as I know Hyatt often doesn’t include free night packages as credits (ie stay two nights, get third free would get you two elite night credits).

I had this experience with a twist. I only got the double nights for my “paid” night, but they billed me $0 for the paid night. So I got 4 nights for the (points) cost of two and no cash out of pocket. I only needed 6 to get back to Titanium, surely I’ll have 2 more before January?

Argh you’re right! According to posts below it sounds like the correct number of nights should post in the next week or so, but if they don’t now I’m definitely calling in to get it fixed. Thanks!

I also had this issue. Paid for 1 night, used points on 9 nights and was only credited 1 extra night. 10-night stay. Reached out yesterday and still haven’t heard back.
