There is a new offer out today on the American Express Business Gold card that is good for 70,000 Membership Rewards points and up to $300 in statement credits with minimum purchases. That is an excellent deal that only gets better if you are playing in 2-player mode and can refer your significant other and pick up a nice pile of points for yourself in the process.

Quick Thoughts

This is an especially good offer for those who will easily use the shipping and advertising credits, though it is still solid for those who won’t given the large sum of Membership Rewards points. As noted at the top, the best play here is if you are playing in 2-player mode and one household member / family member / friend can refer the other. That’s because of the way Amex allows you to refer to almost any other card. You have to check your Amex account, but some people can earn 30,000 or even 35,000 Membership Rewards points when referring someone for a new account. If you are in that situation, it’s great to see an increased offer like this available via referral.

Last year’s temporary shipping credits on the Amex Business Platinum card were triggered by purchases at the post office and the USPS online store. I assume the same will likely work here. Regarding the advertising credit, I don’t know exactly which types of purchases will work for that. A couple of years ago, there was an offer for $100 back on advertising on some Amex cards and I triggered that offer when buying a Google Fi phone from the Google Store. I have no idea whether those purchases would still code as advertising.

Overall, this is an attractive offer for those eligible (but keep in mind Amex’s once-per-lifetime rule).
