Several new Amex Offers appeared yesterday for many of Hilton’s brands which offer larger savings than normal Hilton Amex Offers. Some of these are targeted offers, but check all your cards as you might have one or more of the offers on only one card.

Quick Thoughts

These are some decent savings, with the potential percentage savings being better than normal Hilton Amex Offers. For example, Hampton Inn Amex Offers are usually for $35 back when spending $175 which represents 20% savings when spending exactly $175. With the new offer, you get $50 back which is 28.6%.

In fact, all of these Amex Offers offer the opportunity to save 24% or more without requiring prohibitive levels of spend. In many cases, you’ll hit the required spending threshold when paying for a two night stay.

The slightly disappointing thing is that some of these offers appear to be targeted and aren’t widely available across all your Amex cards. For example, my wife and I have 7 Hilton cards between us (including authorized user cards) and the only one of these Amex Offers on any of them was the Waldorf Astoria/Conrad one.

That’s a little disappointing as we have an upcoming paid stay at an Embassy Suites, but we had that offer on only one of our cards each. Those cards only offer 1 Membership Rewards point per dollar when paying for hotel stays, so while it’s great that we’ll get to save a total of $120 by splitting payment on both cards, it would’ve been even nicer to earn 12x/14x on our Surpass and Aspire cards for that portion of spend.

Something worth bearing in mind is that Hilton is offering free cancelations for all reservations made by September 30. I can’t normally take advantage of Hilton Amex Offers because our paid stays are usually booked using an Advance Purchase Rate, whereas right now that’s not an issue.

Does anyone know if these are cumulative or one purchase only? Usually they say one purchase but I don’t see that in the terms for this one. I’m Currently at a Waldorf and it looks like they are putting every room charge right on my credit card.

Following up on this, I got the amex offer being triggered email and when I went to the front desk to change cards on file I was told that they were just temporary authorizations and I could split payment across as many cards as I wanted at checkout.

so if I book regular Hilton through Hampton offer link, will it not trigger the bonus?

I think Amex purposefully didn’t include these Hilton offers on its Hilton cards. I also only had these offers on non-Hilton cards. It can’t be a coincidence. Thanks a bunch, Amex…
