World of Hyatt’s has latest “Bonus Journeys” promotion is now live. This promo awards double points on stays of 2 or more nights worldwide. Additionally, Bonus Journeys offers double nights on a specific subset of participating all-inclusive hotels and resorts. I don’t find this promotion very exciting, but it certainly makes sense to register for it if you have upcoming Hyatt stays or even just in case you’re able to take advantage.
The Deal
- World of Hyatt’s latest incarnation of its “Bonus Journeys” promotion is offering:

These brands include Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Zilara, Zoetry Wellness Spa & Resorts, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Breathless Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, Alua Hotels & Resorts, and Sunscape Resorts & Spa. Quick Thoughts
World of Hyatt members typically earn 5 base points per dollar spent plus bonuses for elite status (up to 6.5 total points per dollar spent). This promotion doubles the base points, so members will earn between 10 and 11.5 points per dollar spent on stays of 2 nights or more.
That’s about twice as rewarding as usual, but it’s hardly a reason to change a stay from another brand to Hyatt unless it is a very expensive stay where the extra 5 points per dollar spent will make a very significant difference.
Still, it’s always worth registering for these promotions even if you don’t expect to take advantage just in case you end up in a situation with a qualifying stay.
The other half of this offer is double elite night credit. Initially, I got very excited by the mention of double elite night credits. Unfortunately, my excitement abated rapidly when I realized that double elite nights only applies to select properties in the “Inclusive Collection”. The Inclusive Collection encompasses a number of all-inclusive brands (both Hyatt’s long-time Ziva and Zilara brands as well as new additions in AMR Resorts). Getting double elite night credits on your all-inclusive vacation sounds awesome if you’ll be traveling to any of the included properties. However, the offer period here (September 15th to December 20, 2022) lands during hurricane season in the Caribbean. I’ve traveled to the Caribbean in the fall before and had great weather, but I probably won’t be planning any mattress runs on this one. You can find a list of the participating properties here.
With 69 different all-inclusive properties participating in the double nights promotion, you do have a lot of options to find a great spot during the travel window.
If you booked double points rate does that mean you get double points for this promotion and then again for the double points rate?
DP: I stayed at an MGM property from 9/11 to 9/15 and got triple points.
Here’s how they were labeled in my account:
Base Points
Bonus Journeys Double Points
MGM 2x Points Promo Q3 2022
Got a 30% Globalist bonus as well (calculated on base points only)
I was surprised to get this because I thought the promo started 9/15, but I got it for checkout on 9/15.
I’ll start with saying I’ve never stayed at an all-inclusive. But I love Hyatt and being a Globalist. So, this was very exciting to see: 2x stays would make renewing Globalist for 2023 even easier (over 40 nights so far). BUT …
when looking at the reviews of a number of these places I can see that the food is a major issue and equates to why I have never gone for these all-inclusive hotels.
Yes, so people think that food is great and go on to describe the amazing burger or taco. But the biggest negatives in my research were about the food.
I would gladly stay at the Puerto Vallarta Ziva by the sound of the location and even forget about the food at the points rate- except you cannot just walk down the beach and find a decent restaurant. You are stuck. I was once stuck like that before – but then I was in the army (conscripted) – and the food reviews here seems similar to that experience.
Can anyone please assure me I could get a decent meal at any of these places? Or, maybe somewhere that is easy to get in/out of the hotel location and get a great meal nearby?
One of us is vegan – should be easy but often is not. The other is a bit picky and will not eat what I call rubbish (hot dogs, hamburgers, fast food).
.
In practice, Aug 1 – Oct 15 is hurricane season with peak on September 10. Bookings in November and December are totally fine.
Do you think this would stack with the 2x MGM that’s ending 10/15?
I’m going to try to mattress run this remotely. Any tips on how to explain this to the front desk when I call? I except to be a few 5 nights short of retaining Globalist status without a mattress run. I booked 3 nights at the the Sunscape Puerto Plaza for <$300 total, which will get me 6 elite nights, ~4,650 Hyatt points (using WOH credit card), retain globalist status and get an additional brand explore 1-4 Cert.
If I already have a few refundable hotels booked for this time period, do I need to cancel those reservations and rebook or is it ok since the fees haven’t hit my credit card yet? If I do have to cancel, are canceled rooms immediately returned to available inventory?
No need to rebook.
Ventana Big Sur, not shown. Too bad.
For double points stays, is it safe to assume all the Hyatt properties are qualified? I don’t actually see a full list of 1100+ world wide
The terms make it sound to me like every property that participates in World of Hyatt counts for double points. There are some of the new all-inclusive properties do not yet participate in World of Hyatt. You don’t earn any points at those places so you won’t earn double nothing either. I think all of the other properties should be participating. That’s my understanding.
