There are some new offers out this morning to save on meal deliveries from Hello Fresh and airline tickets at China Eastern Airlines. Details follow.
Hello Fresh: Spend $50+, get 1,500 Membership Rewards points OR $15 (see your offer terms), up to 2 times
Why it’s good: Hello Fresh provides weekly meal delivery in a variety of quantities and at a variety of price points. We’ve been subscribing in my household for a couple of months. While none of the meals have knocked our socks off, they do tend to be healthy and decent. It’s always nice to save a few bucks on things you would otherwise buy. Right now, it looks like portal cash back is being paid out as high as 28.8% according to Cashbackmonitor.com. I found this offer on many of my cards, so I intend to rotate them out and pick up some easy points here that should make this a better value for the next couple of months.
This one is a little tough to maximize based on the price points. If you go through a shopping portal, the best deal looks to be BeFrugal. They offer $20 cash back and $20 off of each of your first two boxes. That’s a total of $60 back after two boxes. The problem is that the family plan 4-person, 2-recipe pack comes out to just the wrong amount for the Amex Offer:
If you instead opt for a Classic Plan with 4 recipes per week for 2 people, it comes out a little over the threshold. That’s probably the best play on this deal since you can rotate Amex cards for the first 2 weeks and get $15 or 1500 points back each of those first two weeks on top of the $20 back from BeFrugal.
Alternatively, you can use my referral link to get the same $40 off, but all on your first order. This brings the total to $29.92 for the Family Plan with 2 recipes per week for 4 people. Perhaps you can work the numbers better on another package.
Any way you slice it (see what I did there?), you can get yourself a discount on signup and then get some return in the form of Membership Rewards or cash back.

China Eastern Airlines, Spend $1000, get $200 back
Key restrictions: According to the terms, this can only be used for purchases in US Dollars on the us.ceair.com website. It also indicates that it excludes mileage purchases, priority/premium seat selection fees, baggage fees, and any other fees paid in-person at the airport. It also says it excludes purchases made through affiliate sites that link to us.ceair.com. YMMV as to how much of that is enforced.

Bottom line
These new Amex Offers appeared across most of my cards. There are usually several new offers that roll out near the beginning of a month, so I’d expect to see some more in the coming days. That should be no problem. As long as you buy them from the US site in US dollars, it shouldn’t matter who the tickets are for. There is nothing in the terms that say the tickets must be for you and I’ve never had an issue with using past Amex Offers to buy tickets/make reservations/buy things for other people.

Thanks for the heads up! I got the offer on my Delta Amex. Too bad it has to be one purchase, and not multiple purchases like Sun Basket, for which I also have an offer. I tried playing around with the numbers and it looks like the $59 option is the best for maximizing cash back – $15 back via amex plus $20 via BeFrugal comes out to $25 total for 8 servings, or about $3/serving. Still peeved that the Classic plan comes out to $49.92. Can’t help thinking they did that on purpose, or maybe I’m just cynical.
I was unimpressed by the portion sizes when I tried another meal kit – Blue Apron – and found them too small. What’s been your experience of the serving sizes with Hello Fresh?
Also, if you prefer airline miles over cash back, AA shopping offers 1K miles for signing up, and you can similarly use their code for $30 off your first box or $20 off your first two boxes.
Blue Apron was the worst ever. HelloFresh is much better, great portions, especially if you opt for the pasta dishes. No limit of 2 meat dishes like you get on Blue Apron. I eat one meal over the course of two days with no problem.
Good to know! I actually recently signed up to try Gobble (I wanted to meet the minimum spend for AA’s holiday promo and it worked out to be pretty cheap), but once I’ve got our first few boxes from them, I may switch to Hello Fresh!

1. The Ts & Cs say: “Limit of $30 in statement credit(s) per American Express® online account.” I don’t recall seeing that on other offers. Do you think that means that if I try to redeem on two cards linked to the same online account, I might not get it on both?
2. My Sam’s Club has incredible prices on Hello Fresh GCs in stores — a GC for a 3 meal x 2 person box costs something like $30 (regular price is about $60). If that’s available to you, it’s an even better deal.
1) Yes, the T&Cs always say something to that effect (usually “limit one statement credit per online account” or “limit one offer per online account” — in this case, it’s a limit of 2). While they could always start enforcing that tomorrow, they haven’t yet — so I expect you would get the offer 2x per card as long as you sync it to all of the cards properly. You’ll have to make sure you sync it to both cards using the multi-tab method (see our Complete Guide to Amex Offers linked in the last paragraph of the post).
2) Nice tip! I’ll keep my eye out. Do you know if that’s only for the first order or for subsequent orders as well?
