Office Depot and OfficeMax have returned with their always popular deal on Visa gift cards, offering a $15 instant discount when buying $300+ of them.
The Deal
- Buy $300+ Visa gift cards at Office Depot/OfficeMax and get $15 off instantly.
Key Terms
- Expires March 14, 2020.
- Limit 1 per business/household (probably)
Quick Thoughts
This is a great deal because with $6.95 activation fees on $200 Visa gift cards, you’ll make a $1.10 profit for every couple of them that you buy. There’s usually a limit of 1 per business/household for this type of offer, but you can get around that by visiting at different times of the day, different days, different stores or, if you’re lucky, having a cashier who’s willing to sell these to you across more than one transaction.
If you have a Chase Ink Plus (no longer available for new applications) or Ink Cash card, this deal is particularly rewarding because you’ll earn 5x/5% on the deal. Buying two $200 Visa gift cards will not only earn you the $1.10 profit, but also 1,995 Ultimate Rewards or $19.95 cashback.

[…] didn’t see this deal advertised, but we saw it on Frequent Miler and offer a Hat Tip to Stephen at FM for leading us to this […]
Had the clerk tell me I couldn’t use a credit or a debit card to make the purchase, and that I had to have green cash. Asked politely if she’d make an exception but wouldn’t, so I left without making a fuss. It wasn’t until I got into the parking lot that I cussed up a storm and complained about them wasting my time driving to the store only to be met with a superhero wannabe cashier. I’ll try again today…
nicely ask to concur with a spvr / mgr
my office depot ‘s (Green bay road, Evanston) manager gradually reduced the “allowed max purchase” from $1k to $200 (not a typo!!!) of gift cards of any kind, due to fraud. Mind you I was buying Amazon gift cards.. ridiculous
Reminder of Chase offers with Staples.
I have a $10 off $100 offer and a 10% off with max $17.
Both valid til 23 March.
The dining vgc are part of this deal and $4.95, giving you a profit of $2.52 per card. I had no more issues buying mo with them than with a normal vgc
Useful information. I’ll try today with a groceries card. If this is generally true, it’s a nice, if small, extra profit.
