There’s a new Princess Cruises Amex Offer out today which is giving 17,500 bonus Membership Rewards when spending $700 or more. While that’s not quite as generous as some past Amex Offers for Princess, it’s still a decent return that can hopefully work when paying for taxes and gratuities on a free cruise with them.
The Deal
- Spend $700 in a single purchase with Princess Cruises & get 17,500 bonus Membership Rewards with an Amex Offer.
Key Terms
- Expires February 15, 2024.
- Offer valid only for reservations booked directly with Princess Cruises online only at US website princess.com, by calling 1-800-774-6237, or through a Princess Cruise travel advisor between 11/15/2023 and 2/15/2024.
- In order to qualify for the offer, bookings must total at least $700 or more, and be made through channels that book directly through Princess Cruises.
- Excludes gift cards.
- Excludes onboard purchases, transfers/transportation to the ship, gift and services, parking fees at port, online shop, cruise personalizer, Worldwide Emergency Assistance Services, special events in culinary arts, digital workshops, special entertainment venues, Formalwear Rentals, “Give a Guest a Gift”, Princess EZair and motor coach program.
- Excludes if not booked at time of reservation: airfare booked through cruise line, excursions, hotels, cruise insurance, luggage valet service, celebrations (birthdays, weddings, etc.) and MedallionClass.
- Valid only on purchases made in US dollars.
Quick Thoughts
Some past Princess Cruises Amex Offers have given 22,500 Membership Rewards when spending $750 which is a slightly more generous return, but 17,500 Membership Rewards when spending $700 is still a generous return.
If booking a paid cruise, it shouldn’t be hard to hit that $700 spending requirement. If your cruises is going to cost $1,400 or more and you have this offer on two or more cards, you could call Princess and ask to split the payment of the cruise to earn multiple bonuses.
If you’ve managed to get targeted for a free cruise with Princess, that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck with using this offer. That’s because this Amex Offer will also hopefully be triggered when paying for taxes and cabin upgrades, as well as prepaying gratuities for your cruise. Just note that your $700 spend has to take place in a single transaction, so paying, for example, $350 in one transaction and $350 in another won’t work.
I’ve been hunting for a princess/carnival targeted offer for months across all my cards and I never ever get one. I cruise 3-4 times a year, so this is frustrating. Any advice on how to spend to generate an offer? Also, i have my marketing emails turned off, would it help to turn them on? Would the targeted offer come through there? I have a suite of Chase cards, but I only have a Amex Blue Delta. I don’t qualify for another Amex Sub for another 6 months’ish.
Do you have 100 Amex Offers showing on your card already? If so, you have to load at least some of those to your card to get more offers to show up as Amex only displays 100 at a time.
Why is it that you don’t qualify for another welcome offer for another 6 months? You can get two Amex credit cards every 90 days https://frequentmiler.com/complete-guide-to-credit-card-application-rules-by-bank/#American_Express
You can also save 8% on Princess Cruise gift cards and 10% on Carnival from AARP Rewards. It costs $12 to join and you can buy 5 per month. https://www.aarp.org/rewards/redeem/#sort-by=default
Is there a way to add multiple offers to the card at once or going one by one is the only option?
I see it doesnt apply to cruise personalizer. Does that mean if when signed into my cruise personalizer to purchase the premium drink package, it wont work?
Damn had this offer a few days ago and now its disappeared?
Me too…it was there a couple days ago but now gone??
I have a balance due on a cruise we already booked. 1) Will that work? 2) Do I really have to call that number to make the payment or can I do it online?
That should work. As long as payment says princess cruises should be ok.
0/14….no luck for us…..i guess we have used these Princess Offers too much in the past……….no soup for you!
I have a large balance left that I was going to pay thru my cruise travel agent. The deposit was charged as Princess Cruise passage. So this will trigger to offer right? Also, will Am Ex plat travel insurance kick in if I put the deposit on Bank of America and paid the balance with Am Ex Plat?
My offer was $175 credit with $700 purchase. Not quite as good but i wont look a gift horse in the mouth!
There is also a spend $700 get $175 back version of this offer. I was targeted for that one, and my wife was targeted for the points offer.
Do you think outside the box? I have a balance due of $768 on my Princess cruise. The online payment system will not let me pay more than the balance due. The offer language is pretty restrictive. How can I spend $32 more for 17,500 MR?
Did you mean you have $668 to spend? Because if you have $768 to spend you’re already over the $700 needed.
If you did mean $668, is there something you can add to your booking before making the payment like having a bottle of wine or something else waiting for you in your room when you arrive?
The balance due on my cruise is $668. I’m looking for something to add to make up the difference. My gratuities, wifi and drinks are already included in my fare. I’m not clear what else is eligible. I know the purchase needs to be made during the eligible time period and before I am onboard.
$700 is not hard to hit with the Princess “free” cruise casino offer. For 2 people in a cabin, port taxes/fees were $200+ per person plus a $200 deposit per person that becomes on board credit, you could charge $800+ to trigger this offer and get $400 on board credit, along with the 17.5k AMEX MR Points. Good deal!
DPs on being able to purchase OBC or other items besides cruise fare?
Any way for me to take advantage of this to cash out the $700? I am literally on a princess cruise right now. Maybe charge $700 to my folio to be used as refundable OBC?
Could work at casino. Can load money, play for a short time and cash out.
