Priority Pass made an unexpected announcement yesterday when they shared that Plaza Premium lounges will be returning to the fold.
Once upon a time, you could access Plaza Premium lounges using a Priority Pass membership. However, that partnership came to an end back on July 1, 2021. That was a negative development for people who relied on a Priority Pass membership in order to gain access to them, but it was still possible for Amex Platinum and some Capital One cardholders (Venture X, Venture Rewards and Spark Miles for Business) to access Plaza Premium lounges courtesy of those cards.
Things are in the process of reverting back to how it used to be. 39 Plaza Premium lounges have already rejoined Priority Pass with effect from yesterday (June 6), with the remaining lounges due to rejoin by June 20.
In one way that’s a great development. On the other hand, airport lounges have already been very busy, with capacity constraints being imposed at times. With Priority Pass members now regaining access to Plaza Premium lounges, the same issues might start occurring there too (if they weren’t already).
Thank u for continuing to post and keep us up to date. You and Tim are basically holding the site together these days.
None of the Cancun, Mexico clubs are listed in joining despite being on the Plaza Premium website. Are they not coming over????
I appreciate the move. Although as someone who receives Plaza Premium access separately through both the American Express Platinum and Capital One Venture X cards, I would not have personally minded a little bit less crowding.
