Quick Thoughts

Regular readers are problably thinking, “wait, who pays for cruises these days?” Indeed, $500 back on $1500 at Royal Caribbean with new Amex OfferNick has had a whole series of terrific posts about how to leverage free status matches into “nearly-free” cruise offers (including this one about Royal Caribbean, in particular). Anyone interested in cruising should check them out.

Regardless, this Amex Offer is a terrific deal if you’re looking to book a cruise, or even if you’re just paying port taxes and gratuities for several people on a “free” cruise. The terms even specify that you can book through your preferred travel advisor, so this should be stackable with offers like room upgrades and onboard credits that can often be accessed by agents. It is also valid on one or more transactions, so you should be OK even if paying off the cruise in installments.
We value the reasonable redemption of Membership Rewards at 1.55 cents each, meaning we think you should be able to get at least $310 in value without having to cherry pick awards. Getting ~30% back on a $1000 in cruise expenses of seems like a great opportunity for folks who can use it.

I received this offer on my Amex Plat and my one of my AU. Does that mean I can pay twice and get the 20K bonus twice ?

Last year I received the offer on my green card and my authorized user for my gold card had it on there and used both offers and got the bonus twice. I got this offer again and will do the same thing this year
