The fairly common Saks Fifth Avenue Amex Offer has returned, offering either $50 back or 5,000 Membership Rewards when spending $250 or more in-store or online.

This offer doesn’t expire until the middle of January, so you can stack with the personal Amex Platinum Saks benefit even if you’ve already taken advantage of the Jul-Dec statement credit.

Saks Amex Offer $50 Statement Credit

Quick Thoughts

This Saks Amex Offer seems to come around fairly frequently which is nice for a few reasons. If you’re a gift card reseller, a 20% discount (or 5,000 Membership Rewards) on a $250 Saks gift card can make this a profitable deal depending on your reselling relationships. Even if you don’t have any kind of preferential rates available to you, CardCash is currently paying out 80%, making this break even.

Secondly, the personal Amex Platinum card comes with a twice-annual $50 benefit at Saks – once for Jan-Jun and once for Jul-Dec. That benefit and these Saks Amex Offers stack with each other, so you can get $100 back (or $50 + 5,000 Membership Rewards) when spending $250 if you have the Amex Offer on a Platinum card.

The Platinum Saks benefit works for in-store gift card purchases, although I haven’t had a chance to test it out for online physical gift card orders. If you haven’t used that Saks benefit yet between Jul-Dec, now is the perfect opportunity to do that. If you have used it, this Amex Offer will still be valid for the first couple of weeks in 2019, meaning you can stack it with the Jan-Jun benefit instead.

Ebates also offers 2% cashback in-store at Saks when paying with a credit card you’ve linked to that program. Gift card purchases are excluded though and they’ve been known to claw back cashback in the past, so consider the 2% a bonus if you get it rather than a guaranteed return.

The terms of this particular Saks Amex Offer exclude eGift card purchases which I don’t remember happening in the past. I’d wondered if they were now processed by CashStar, but it looks like Saks has disabled the ability to buy eGift cards for now which might be why that term was inserted.

I didn’t get this offer on any of my cards. That’s too bad

Kirby

Since its one or more transactions, I could get both the Jul-Dec $50 and the Jan-Jun $50 offers, plus the $50 or 5000 MR.

Probably

Nah. I can find similar items somewhere else at less than half the price.

can’t agree with you more. I have a platinum card. It is a pain to find something worth $50 and a deal. I ended up buying a toy at $50 while knowing I can buy the same thing at half price at Amazon. It is free due to Platinum. Otherwise, I don’t pay more than a penny there. So $50 off $250? No way!
