Capital One’s The Match is happening this weekend at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, FL. If you’re in the area and looking for something to do, Capital One Entertainment is offering tickets to watch Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy take on Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth for 35K Capital One miles per person. These are general admission tickets, but for a big golf fan I could see this being potentially exciting.

Quick Thoughts
I saw this event while updating our Capital One Miles Complete Guide. I’m not a golf fan, but I imagine this could be fun for someone who is as even as a non-fan I recognize all four names in this match.
I can’t tell whether or not 35K miles per ticket is a great deal for this event as I can’t find tickets for sale otherwise — but then the fact that there aren’t tickets for sale otherwise probably makes this interesting to those who might consider attending. Note that you must buy 2 tickets and you can only buy 2 tickets at a time, so you’ll need to redeem 70,000 miles.
Whether or not a single golf match is worth 70K miles is a case of beauty being in the eye of the cardholder. I wouldn’t redeem for this one, but I know people who probably would if they had the miles.

Is Tiger Woods even going to play in the event? He withdrew from his own Hero Tournament last week because of foot problems.
How many Capital One miles would it take to see Taylor Swift in concert?
A bajillion.
No Capital One exclusives for that. My wife would love to see that happen, but I’m not that confident it will.
Didn’t Capital One have an early ticket purchase option? Someone did…
If other fans are like me I’ll choose to not go see Rory and Tiger. I don’t understand why those two are so very vocal about their PGA commitment and not only their dislike for the LIV tour but also proscribing things like the LIV CEO Norman needs to leave. Their devotion to a monopolistic tour like the PGA is confusing, why they hate competition between tours is very confusing. And why they’d have a problem with golfers going to play for more money somewhere else while they do events like this, for money, seems very hypocritical.
I’ll stay away from this event but good to see yet another use for Capital One miles.
