Doctor of Credit is reporting that some American Express cardholders are now seeing offers to a refer a friend and receive as many as 45,000 Membership Rewards points for referring a friend who is approved for an American Express card. Keep in mind that Amex still limits cardholders to earning a maximum of 100,000 points per year per card in referrals, but those targeted for this will nearly hit the annual max with just two successful referrals.
Note that only select cardholders are targeted to receive 45,000 points per friend they refer who is successfully approved for a new American Express card. None of my cards are currently targeted for referral offers higher than 25,000 points per referral.
If you are targeted for the 45,000 point offer, keep in mind that Amex multi-referrals make it possible to refer a friend or family member to almost any other Amex card. Even if the person you refer is not eligible for a new cardmember bonus on the card they choose to open, you can still get the referral bonus if they are approved.
I expect that very few cardmembers will find that they are targeted for this offer, but if you are it is worth looking for someone in your circle who could make use of a new Amex card as this is a fantastic bonus.

One can’t help but sense that Amex is squirming. Anticipating low and outside pitches. And, Chase gave them a couple of sliders. Now, it’s a 0-2 count.
if you get this, use it fast! Mine came and went in like 30 days. Got one ref in, so that was nice.
