[…] To follow along, if you buy $300 in American Express gift cards this week at Staples, you’ll get a $20 Staples gift card by Easy Rebate in the mail. It’s in the weekly ad on page 15 ( H/T: Frequent Miler) […]
Why the negative comments? AMEX cards aren’t PIN enabled, but they are still useful for general spending. Use your Chase Ink card to buy 2 $200 cards and you’ll end up with 2069 ultimate rewards and a net gain of $6.10 to spend at Staples. Seems like a good deal to me.
Indeed, IF you still use amex gift cards for general spending. To echo the question above, who in this space still does that — when so many other ways to earn miles/points off cc’s? Yet I gather you do, Barry. Care to explain how that’s a benefit, as you see it? Et tu, Shawn?
Hi Escort. In a given month, I have about $3000 of real spending that I can cycle through a credit card. If I can buy AmEx gift cards at an office supply store at no cost, I’m happy to take my 5X Ultimate Rewards and just use the gift cards for actual spending. You don’t have to agree with the way I do things, but personally I find deals like this useful.
Careful. Last time they sent me a Staples gift card that had no numbers on it. Could not be used online.
Useless information.
Who here still dabbles in Amex GCs?
