Quick Thoughts
This promo is sure to sell out quickly. That’s because “Room nights will be fulfilled in the form of 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points – good for at least one free night at thousands of Super 8 hotels worldwide.” In other words, $8.88 + tax is buying you 15,000 points that you could use to book a Super 8.
I assume that you won’t have to use your 15,000 points to book a Super 8, so this will be a fantastic deal. We recently re-ran our Reasonable Redemption Value for Wyndham points and came to a newly increased value of 1.01c per point, though it’s worth pointing out that the 80th percentile (useful for the cherry pickers among us) was 1.28c per point. In other words, the 15,000 points here are easily worth $150 or potentially even more.
Keep in mind that only 800 “throwback rates” are available. You’ll presumably need to be online right at 8am on 8/8 to snag one of these. I’ll probably give it a shot because I appreciate Wyndham Rewards points and will be happy to pick some up this cheaply. I don’t have a pressing need to stay at a Super 8, but 15K points for $8.88 sounds “super” indeed.
[…] was lucky enough to snag one of the Super 8 promo packages (15,000 Wyndham Rewards Points for $8.88), so I currently had 45,000 Wyndham Rewards Points. I […]
Update! I got the deal and points showed up today. Looks like they can be used as regular 15k points and are not limited to Super 8 from why I can tell.
Yes me too. The points look like any other WR points, not restricted to Super 8.
I got up at 4:45am here on the west coast to get this deal. I found the correct link on my own two days ago. At times you need to do your own due diligence. I was lucky enough to snag one of these $8 deals before it sold out. Thanks Frequent Miler guys!
A big thank you to FrequentMiler, I got mine at 8:01 using Apple Pay. Opened button link in a new window a couple times to a generic Shopify page asking for me to enter my email address. Then the site opened up correctly on the next try, added one to my cart, and used Apple Pay.
Already got the points
Thanks again!
So I just gave Wyndham my personal info to create a rewards account, all for nothing. 🙁
7:40am here in California, sold out?
Offer was available at 8:00 AM (EST) , sold out like 8:02 AM (EST)
Gosh. Sold out? It’s not 8AM PST yet…
Oh…in the future, please post a time zone along with times so there is no confusion.
Anyone get a valuation on this offer what 8.88 is worth at 15000 points?
Did you read the post? Says potentially worth $150.
Very sorry about the wrong link everyone! We had posted the link that Wyndham’s PR sent us. We had no way to verify the link in advance.
Wyndham should apologize by giving 888 readers of this site access to the $8.88 rate. 🙂
The problem here Greg is that folks have been commenting the link was dead for days now. Other sites such as TPG had the correct link. Y’all dropped the ball on this one but I forgive you:)
Yes, the link didn’t work before but I (incorrectly) assumed that was because the deal wasn’t live yet. It’s pretty common for PR people to give us links to use before those links are live. That said, yes we absolutely should have double checked with Wyndham beforehand.
Yeah, I assumed the same. I guess I should read the Points Guy too, but I don’t want to :).
I can’t get this offer. Anyone else having trouble?
It’s dead…sold out!
I got mine so now we wait and see if the 15k deposited is only bookable at Super 8 or for any Wyndham Rewards property. If only S8 then I will likely try to use it at a S8 in Germany since I travel there frequently and all their German properties look newish and decent.
Lucky you. At 8:00 I was able to enter, and the when I was in the checkout (paying) just entering the final cc data and boom a sold out message.
There should be a big mea culpa on the way after this debacle Nick Reyes.
You’re officially off my follow list.
wow i was up since 7:45 to try to get in but the wrong website never was live.
Thanks Nick.
Same here .. I was booking on Wyndham website
