Choice Privileges is currently offering a transfer bonus when you transfer Choice Privileges rewards points to Air France KLM Flying Blue. It’s normally a bad deal to transfer hotel points to an airline program, but if you have points stranded at Choice, or you’re just flush with Choice points, you might find them to be more valuable with Flying Blue.

The Deal
- Choice Privileges is currently running a transfer bonus to Air France KLM Flying Blue whereby 5000 Choice Privileges points, which ordinarily transfer to become 1000 Flying Blue miles, will double and become 2,000 Flying Blue miles.

Quick Thoughts
As noted at the top, it is ordinarily a bad deal to transfer hotel points to airline miles or vice versa. Typically, we only consider moving points to airline programs from transferable currency ecosystems (like Amex Membership Rewards, Citi Thank You Points, etc). That’s because the ratio is typically quite poor from a hotel program to an airline program. For instance, the ordinary ratio from Choice to Flying Blue would be 5,000 Choice Privilege points to 1000 Air France KLM Flying Blue miles. That’s generally an inadvisable trade.
However, airline miles tend to be more valuable than hotel points, and that’s definitely the case with Flying Blue miles as compared to Choice Privileges rewards points.
Through that lens, this transfer bonus might look OK for some people. Given that our Reasonable Redemption Value of Choice Privileges points is 0.75 cents per point, and our reasonable redemption value for Air France KLM Flying Blue miles is 1.3 cents per point, even after the transfer bonus here, it’s not a slam dunk. That said, if you don’t have clear plans for your Choice points, and if you would redeem your Air France KLM Flying Blue miles for premium cabin awards, or in the right sweet spot situations on partner awards (such as short-haul Delta flights or even short-distance flights within Europe), A conversion here could make sense.
To put some math to those numbers, 5000 Choice Privileges points would be worth $37.50 based on our reasonable redemption value, whereas 2000 flying blue miles would be worth $26 based on our reasonable redemption value. That means this still isn’t a good idea without any plan in mind, but your real-world value may be greater or less than those numbers depending on your redemption plans.
