The United and Alaska Airlines shopping portals both launched limited time promotions today that are offering 500 bonus miles/points when spending $100.

Key Terms

- During the “Mystery Bonus” offer, which runs from 4/8/2026 through 4/15/2026 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”), Member will earn a one-time bonus of 500 MileagePlus bonus award miles on qualifying purchases made through the MileagePlus Shopping mall or from purchases made through MileagePlus Shopping in-store offers.
- This one-time bonus award will be based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period: 500 miles for qualifying purchases of $100 or more.
- “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles. - Please allow up to 10 weeks after the Bonus Period for bonus award miles to post to your MileagePlus Shopping account.
Quick Thoughts
The math is easy to do for both of these offers: if you spend exactly $100, you’ll earn 5X bonus miles on top of the standard earnings. That’s a decent return, especially for retailers that usually have low portal earning rates.
Although gift card purchases are listed as being excluded, purchases from Giftcards.com do track and trigger these shopping portal bonuses.
Both the Alaska and United portals have card-linked in-store offer programs, with that spending also counting towards the $100 spending threshold for this bonus. You can find the in-store program for the Alaska portal here and the United portal here.
As a reminder, the 500 bonus Atmos Rewards points you’d earn from the Alaska portal do count towards status in that you earn 1,000 status points for every 3,000 redeemable points you earn.
