Hertz has extended its usual offer of up to 2,750 United miles with each booking through July 31, 2018 (that’s 1500 bonus miles in addition to the miles you normally earn). That can be a nice return on a cheap rental depending on how you value the miles. This offer comes around regularly and there are occasionally targeted offers for additional bonus miles. The United CDP may or may not produce a good enough price to justify using this promo, but it’s worth a look if you value the miles.
The Deal
- Book a mid-size or larger car with Hertz through United.com and earn 1,500 bonus United miles in addition to the miles you normally earn (500-1,250 as per the chart shown below) using CDP 62455 and PC 305023 and your MileagePlus number at the time of reservation

Quick Thoughts
I rarely find that the United CDP produces a discount over booking through other channels, but sometimes I find the miles more valuable than the difference in price. For example, a quick search for a one-day rental in Tampa, FL next week turned up results for $45.46 all-in for a mid-size car.
A quick search through Kayak turned up midsize rates with other companies in the $35 range all-in. Depending on your status as either a United credit card holder or elite member, you will earn between 2,000 and 2,750 miles for the rental. The breakdown is the 1500 bonus miles plus your normal earnings as per this chart:
You may find it worthwhile to pay an extra $11 for 2,000 to 2,750 United miles if you value those miles at better than 0.55 cents per mile. On the other hand, you may have access to a better discount that widens the gap. You’ll have to comparison shop.
Generally, this deal is best for 1-day rentals or when you don’t mind renting for a day and then returning and picking up a second car for Day #2, etc. In those cases, the miles can add up to a useful amount — though you’ll have to consider the convenience factor.
Overall, this promotion is worth a look if you value United miles and have an upcoming rental. I’ll be monitoring my inbox to see if any targeted bonus offers come around as they did last fall.

From November 2017 until 1/31/18, I earned ~ 100K UA miles by following a link from a UA email with 5,500 UA miles per Hertz rental promo. I booked 3 cheap rentals every weekend whenever I was in town (US). Any chance that promo coming back?
Stacks quite nicely with a one-way special. A one day rental from AZ to CA is $28 with tax, for example. Worth it for the points alone, perhaps.
