Kroger regularly offers opportunities to earn bonus Kroger Points on gift card purchases and other items throughout the store. Historically, the best use of points has been for purchasing fuel, where 1,000 Kroger points gets you $1 off per gallon on up to 35 gallons of gas. However, for those who either don’t have the need to purchase gas or who earn more points each month than they could use on fuel, there’s now a new opportunity. As reported by Doctor of Credit, Kroger (and its affiliate) rewards members can now use up to 1,000 Kroger points per day for a discount of up to $10 on regular groceries.

Keep in mind the low cap here, as you can only use up to $10 worth of points per day. You should be able to apply your points within the Kroger app for a discount on your groceries. If you go to the grocery store regularly, then this could make it possible to use far more points to get real-world discounts.
Keep in mind that Kroger points expire at the end of the month following the month in which they are earned, so it isn’t uncommon for people to realize that they will have points expiring unused. Obviously, using your points for a discount on fuel can be a far better deal, but for those who wouldn’t end up using all of them that way, this is a great option to have.

In my area Kroger is Fred Meyer. There are often Chase offers for 5% cash back on groceries and 3% off gas. I haven’t tested it on gift cards as I usually use my Amex gold for 4%.
