Quick Thoughts
If you have a cheap and easy way to liquidate these gift cards, this can be a good way to increase spend on credit cards that offer a good return on spend. Note that only the purchase fees are waived though, so if buying physical gift cards rather than digital ones, you’ll still have to pay shipping fees.
Be aware that American Express cards won’t earn points/miles/cashback on purchases from VanillaGift and might also incur cash advance fees, so be sure to pay with a non-Amex card.
Thanks for sharing this Stephen. Do you know (or does anyone else know) if using an Altitude Reserve card via Apple Pay goes through just fine at 3x and is there any risk of a shutdown by US Bank assuming you keep the numbers relatively low (say under $500 or so)?
Would be nice to get 4.5% back at places that don’t accept Apple Pay but not if it risks a shutdown.
