Are the Alaska Cards Still Churnable?
This week, BOA and Alaska Airlines sweetened the pot with a new and improved offer on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signaure card: You can now get 30K miles, a $0 + taxes companion fare, and a $100 statement credit for meeting the minimum spend and paying the annual fee of $75. Alaska miles are highly valuable for some great partner redemptions. As we wrote about this week, the companion fare can also be a terrific benefit — and the drop from $99 + taxes/fees to $0 only makes it better. But can you sign up for the card more than once? In the past, it wasn’t uncommon for some people to open more than one of these cards in a single day. In recent months, however, BOA has really tightened up. In this post, Sarah Page Maxwell at Mile Value explores whether this offer is still churnable and she shares some great tips for increasing your odds.
My Worst Reselling Mistake
As I’ve mentioned before, I fell into the hobby of miles and points by reselling. It can be both a fun and profitable endeavor for sure — but we all make mistakes now and then, and when you make a mistake in this realm the costs can be real in dollars and cents. While it’s fun to read about someone’s latest big score in buying and reselling products, Trevor at Tagging Miles brings us an honest look at the other side. While I think it’s generally good advice to resell products you know well, the truth is that some of the most profitable resales I’ve made have been products I only learned about by finding a deal (full disclosure: as I type this, my wife is driving us in a Uhaul full of stuff to resell and it is mostly full of products I’ve never resold). Trevor reminds us to do our due diligence when dabbling in products outside of our wheelhouse.

10 National Parks you can explore with your dog
FInally, something a little fun this weekend. In the miles and points world, we often focus on exotic international travel and fancy resorts. But as summer road trip season approaches, this article reminded me of the incredible scenic beauty within the USA. This summer, if you’re looking to hit the road with your four-legged friend, this article might give you some inspiration for your staycation.
