World of Hyatt credit card now earns 4x at Mr & Mrs Smith properties

10

In April, when Mr & Mrs Smith properties went live within World of Hyatt, the details didn’t exactly impress us. There’s not much in the way of guaranteed benefits and the properties (overall) are a poor value when booked as awards.

Now, there’s at least some incentive to pay cash for Mr & Mrs Smith (MMS) properties: World of Hyatt cardholders will earn four points per dollar when using their card to pay the bill, bringing earning at MMS properties in line with the rest of Hyatt’s portfolio

The Deal

  • As of today, World of Hyatt credit cardholders will receive 4 points per dollar when paying for Mr & Smith properties with their Hyatt credit card.

Quick Thoughts

I’m still a bit shocked at how little value Hyatt is offering their members via their purchase of Mr & Mrs Smith (MMS). I was especially surprised when, as part of the initial “going live” announcement, Hyatt said that cardholders would not earn 4x at MMS properties like they do at the rest of World of Hyatt’s portfolio. This bizarrely incentivized folks to NOT to use their Hyatt card when staying there.

Now that’s been fixed and returns at MMS when paying with the Hyatt card are the same as at any other World of Hyatt location.

Note that Hyatt is marketing this as cardholders “earning 9x at Mr & Mrs Smith.” That’s true, but cardholders would have already earned five points per dollar by virtue of being a World of Hyatt member, regardless of whether or not they paid with their card. The increased earnings that were announced today are only adding four points per dollar (when paying with their card), not nine.

I don’t see any of MMS hotels show up in NYC. I called and they said it’s because of availability. I try pretty much every week. That’s BS. So the gift card some of us got just book through mms website?

Taylor

Assuming this also applies to the WOH Business Card, though am looking for confirmation online to be sure.

Peter

Ugh, booked MMS via Hyatt and put a partial down payment on my Citi Strata. Hopefully the hotel in Italy will allow me to use my Hyatt Visa card at checkout.

I think the Hyatt card gives 4x on total bill (room rate plus taxes, meals, spa, etc.) vs. the 5x WoH on room base-rate only. Can anyone confirm?

Jay

Do you need to book on Hyatt or the 4x applies booked directly on MMS?

Mr & Mrs Smith is the most anti loyalist move by Hyatt.

Holly

Currently they are having trouble booking a bunch of MMS properties. They deducted points from my account multiple times but the reservation never went through so I’ve been trying to make the reservation for days. So if you made any online yourself, you might want to check and make sure it’s a valid reservation. I cancelled a SLH reservation in Greece (Liostasi) that I booked last year with points bc it’s actually now less points to book it since it’s an MMS properly and the cash rate dropped. 5k points less a night.

Chris

One of Hyatts worse moves replacing SLH with the disastrous Mr and Mrs Smith

Ike s

I wish we had SLH back. Mr and Mrs smith is a total disaster !
