[Update: Dead again] $100 Virtual Visa GC for $90 (or Amazon, Walmart, etc): Buy Swagbucks for less than value

15

Update 5 (12/27/18 6:30pm ET): Dead again.

Update 4 (12/27/18 3:39pm ET): Alive once again. Surely won’t last. Hop on it and buy 2,000 SB for $18. H/T: Doctor of Credit for the update.

Update 3 (12/20/18 9pm ET): Appears to be dead again. Let’s hope it comes back tomorrow!

Update 2 (12/2018 7:20pm ET): It’s alive again!  Now buy $20 at a time for $18 (Hat Tip: Josh)

Update: This is alive again, at least for some customers. While the terms said it was limited to 10K purchased per day, that limit was not being enforced. I’d bet that perhaps now it is, but I haven’t tried — I do see the ability to buy 1K for $9.00 again in my account, though I had some existing Swagbucks and hadn’t bought the full 10K earlier.

Swagbucks is offering a really interesting flash sale: Buy Swagbucks for 10% off. The short version of the story is that every 1,000 Swagbucks costs $9 and you can buy up to 10K Swagbucks per day — which is enough for a $100 Virtual Visa Gift Card or a $100 gift card good for Amazon, Walmart, etc.

The Deal

  • Buy Swagbucks and save 10% off of the face value — up to enough Swagbucks to get a $100 Virtual Visa Gift Card or other retailer gift cards for $90 (or top off your Swagbucks account to redeem for a gift card)
  • Direct link to this promotion

Key Terms

  • While supplies last (which I imagine won’t be long)
  • Available to those with Swagbucks accounts open at 11:59pm on 12/17/18 (i.e. only for existing accounts – can’t create one for this sale)
  • Link to FAQs

Quick Thoughts

Reader Sylvia passed this one on to us and it looks like an awesome deal. You can buy up to 10K Swagbucks for $90 total (though you’ll have to do it in separate transactions). You can buy in the following three increments:

a screenshot of a website

In my case, the Swagbucks posted immediately after the credit card transaction went through. You can then redeem them for a myriad of different gift cards, including Walmart, Amazon, and Virtual Visa.

Some gift cards are on sale and you can stack an even further savings. Apparently, you automatically save 12% on your first $25 gift card transaction of the month, so you can get an Amazon gift card for 2200 Swagbucks — or $19.90 if buying them. That’s a nice deal for Amazon gift cards. Note that you can only get this discount on a $25 card once per month.

Note that some gift cards / cashout methods take longer than others, so be sure to see the terms. It states on the $25 Amazon eGC page that in order to receive the card by 12/24, you’ll need to order it by 12/19 – so I expect redemption is not instant.

Still, this looks like a slamming deal. You can buy a max of 10K as long as this lasts, though I imagine that won’t be long. Note that your account must have been open as of 11:59pm on 12/17 to participate, so you can’t sign up with a new account and take advantage of this one unfortunately.

Jeffrey

I didn’t meet any limit. I stopped when I bought 20K points.

It let me buy 11, I didn’t try for more. Good deal as long as they don’t close your account before you can spend the swagbucks.

As a warning, don’t use a VPN when browsing the site. I logged in once when connected to my Windscribe VPN and it immediately closed my account. I was able to get it reopened after emailing, but it was scary that I may have lost those points!

Matt

…. and they just raised the price! Now it’s $11.99 / 1000. Good while it lasted!
