10x American Airlines miles at Staples.com

Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is almost done! The last two weeks Greg, Nick, and Stephen competed to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines. But who completed the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?

Vote here!

The American Airlines AAdvantage eShopping portal is offering 10x at Staples.com today. While that probably won’t work on any gift cards, it still makes for a great stack with 5x on office supplies if you use a card that earns one of the best category bonuses at office supply stores and it could make for a nice little infusion of both redeemable miles and loyalty points.

Keep in mind that this payout is only valid online at Staples.com, not at a physical store.

Quick Thoughts

As noted at the top, I don’t think portals have tracked any of the gift cards at Staples.com for a long time now, but I guess it’s always worth clicking through just in case.

I would assume that this payout is only valid today. If you were already considering purchasing other things sold by Staples, the return here will certainly enhance the deal. If you value both American Airlines and Ultimate Rewards points at greater than 1c each, the total return here could certainly push you over the edge on a purchase decisions. Some people have also received spending bonus offers on the Citibusiness AAdvantage card – I’m not sure if any of them would stack here, but even if they did I believe you’d only get Loyalty Points for the 1x base points on the card.

Make sure to check the exclusions before placing your order as there are a number of specific products and services excluded.

they cycle thru their rates fast! 10x is no more

Troy

They also have 40% back in rewards on Ink purchases of $75+ or toner of $175+. Ends today, coupon code 69927, limit 12.
$100 of ink thru AA with a Chase Ink Cash would result in:
$40 Staples Rewards (which are worth over $40 because they reduce tax when used)
1000 AAdvantage LoyaltyMiles ™
500 Chase UR points
Not a bad haul if you’re needing ink anyway

Actually in the market for a monitor and a drum kit for my printer.

Anything else stack with this?

I did a test purchase of a visa gift card on 1/1 to see if it would track on AA Eshopping for loyalty points and it did not, so one bit of data that confirms your expectation, Nick. It actually tracked the points and the purchase price but it did not result in any miles being awarded.
