You can also get 12% / 12x at other popular spots like Lenovo, Sixt rental cars, and many popular department stores.

If you’re new to Rakuten

Rakuten often has a referral bonus for signing up. The current bonus at the time of writing is $40 cash back or 4,000 Membership Rewards points for both sides when a new member signs up and spends $40 through the portal. If would like to use one of our referral links, you’ll find them below:

Keep in mind that while Rakuten shows payouts in terms of cash back, you can alternatively choose to earn Amex Membership Rewards points. If you have someone in your family who hasn’t yet signed up for Rakuten, it can be well worth referring them so you can both earn rewards.

Quick Thoughts

It’s always worth comparing using Cashbackmonitor.com to make sure you’re getting the best rate, though also keep in mind that portals will sometimes change rates mid-day during this shopping season, so it might also be worth directly checking your favorite portal(s).

This is obviously a great chance to stack with things like current Amex offers and Platinum card benefits like the Saks credit on Amex Platinum consumer cards ($50 between July and December) or the Dell credit on Amex Business Platinum cards ($200 between July and December).
