Quick Deals
Both of these Amex Offers enable you to save up to 20% on your stay, although your actual percentage savings will depend on how much your stay ends up costing. If you and P2 both have these offers on your cards, you could ask the hotel to split the cost of your stay across two cards if your Hampton/Hilton Garden Inn/Tru stay costs $350+ or your Hilton stay in Mexico costs $600+.
As always with these Amex Offers for Hilton brands, note that they don’t work when booking any kind of non-refundable rate like Advance Purchase. That’s because payment for those stays is taken ahead of time by Hilton corporate (or some other kind of entity) which doesn’t trigger the statement credit from the offers.
In an ideal world, you’d find both offers on Hilton credit cards. That was the case for the Hilton Mexico offer, but the Hampton/Hilton Garden Inn/Tru offer didn’t appear on my Hilton cards.
Despite that, it might still be possible to add these offers to one of your Hilton cards even if they don’t initially show up there. To do that, click on the links further up in the ‘The Deals’ section which takes you to the Amex Connect site and click ‘Add To Card’.
You’ll enter your name, card number and email address and it’ll then prompt you to log in to your Amex account. Despite not appearing on my Hilton Aspire or Surpass cards when logging in to my Amex account normally, by going via the Amex Connect site I was able to load the Hampton/Hilton Garden Inn/Tru offer to my Aspire card.
That means that if we have a stay at an eligible property by April 30, I’ll be able to earn 14x Hilton Honors points on the purchase which is much better than the 1x we’d earn by loading it to a card earning Membership Rewards.
Hi Stephen: I have a stay at a Hampton Inn that ends on 4/30. It will total over $800 and I have 2 Amex Hilton Cards and my wife has one, so hoping to split payment between 3 cards to get the credit 3x (don’t think that’ll be an issue). however, I know sometimes payment doesn’t go through until a day or two later, which may not trigger the credit if I pay on checkout on 4/30. Have you asked the hotel to charge payment in advance? I’ll be checking in on 4/27 so theoretically I can ask them to pay my bill in advance? not sure if the hotel will do that or wonder why i’m asking plus splitting payment.
You can only load the offer to one card per person in most instances, so you’d likely only be able to load it to two cards between the two of you.
It’s certainly worth a try asking the hotel to take payment early; I imagine it’s hotel-dependent as to whether or not they’re able/willing to do that, but it’s certainly worth a try.
Even if they don’t take payment until April 30 it’ll still hopefully post as an April 30 transaction rather than May 1 or 2 even if there’s a delay of a day or two for the payment to go from pending to posted.
Well I spoke too soon. Tried my 2 cards and my wife’s card and all 3 gave the message “PLEASE ENROLL ON AMERICANEXPRESS.COMBased on the Card Number you’ve entered, you can enroll in this offer and other personalized offers by logging into your American Express Account.”
of course when I go to each of our accounts, the offer is not there. just a banner that says, “Sorry about that! It doesn’t happen often, but offers are currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
I’m I just SOL?
I guess so – those kinds of Amex Connect offers are sometimes targeted, so I’m not aware of any way to get the offers loaded to your cards in this scenario.
Rare Perfect timing Amex.
2/2 Aspires. So it will stack nicely with the resort credits later this month.
Will have to check for GCs at check-in we’re Using FNAs for one resort stay and then 5th night free at different Resort.
Stephen, thx for the DP & links; for other amex offers like e.g. dell which i prefer to load its offer to amex biz plat, could u offer a pointer on where i may find a link for that? TIA
Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a direct link for that Dell offer. You can find all Amex Connect offers here: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/network/shopping.html#All
Not all of those seem to be loadable to any Amex-issued card – it seems to be hit or miss. If you have an Amex card issued by another bank, it should be possible to load these Amex Connect offers to those cards as that’s what this is normally meant to be for.
ah, got it; i’ll keep the attached general link for future use. thx
Man. I added it to my platinum card cause I didn’t see on my aspire. Should’ve read this first. Thanks though
As with you Stephen, the Hampton/Hilton Garden Inn/Tru offer didn’t appear on my or my wife’s Hilton cards either. I followed your directions and successfully added the offer to both our Aspire cards. Thanks for the tip.
Great, I’m glad it worked for you too 🙂
The Mèxico appeared on my Aspire and the other offer on my ancient Blue.
If you use the link in the post, you can hopefully load the other offer to your Aspire card too if you want.
Anyone know any hotels in mexico that you can prepay on a refundable rate?
