There’s a new Amex Offer out this morning good for 20% back at Expedia (up to $20 back). That is a great deal to have this week as Expedia typically runs some excellent offers over the Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend. However, note that it excludes everything but prepaid hotels — it looks like this will only work on prepaid hotel bookings.
The Deal
- A new widely-available Amex Offer is out that’s good for 20% back up to $20 back at Expedia.com
Key Terms
- Expires 12/31/20
- Basically only works on prepaid hotels (excludes flights, activities, pay when you stay, trip insurance, vacation packages, cruises, etc)
- The terms indicate that you must book through expedia.com/amex, though I very much doubt that you actually need to begin your booking there (YMMV)
Quick Thoughts
Just make sure you’ve seen the exclusions before you try to use this on something that (at least theoretically) won’t work.
That said, even if this only works on hotel reservations paid in advance, it might not be a bad deal. The last couple of years, Expedia has run something like a 90% off sale on Black Friday and Cyber Monday where certain (mostly non-chain) hotels were available at steep discounts for a short window. The best part is that the discount typically applies to any room type. Last year, I was able to score a big discount on a suite for an overnight I needed on a road trip. It worked out perfectly for my needs. Stacking with this offer would make that kind of deal even better.
All that said, I typically prefer flexibility over prepaid rates. That preference has only strengthened in 2020. Still, if you know you’ll be needing a hotel, saving twenty bucks might be worth giving up that flexibility.

I had this exact offer loaded to my AmEx a couple weeks ago and was surprised that it worked on a hotels.com booking (pre-paid through the website).
