There is a new targeted (but widely available) Amex Offer out today that’s good for $200 back when you send $1,000 or more with Air France / KLM. This could be a great deal whether you’re planning paid travel or planning to take advantage of this month’s promo rewards.

The Deal

  • A new targeted but widely available Amex Offer is out for Air France / KLM: Spend $1,000 or more, get $200 back [enrollment required]

Key Terms

  • Expires 6/5/22
  • Flights must originate in the US and be charged in US dollars to qualify
  • Not valid on lounge access, hotel bookings, package deals, city passes, group reservations, flight crew training, or basically anything that isn’t a flight (see offer for full terms)

Quick Thoughts

This can obviously be a great deal if you need to buy a paid ticket since saving $200 on a paid ticket is no chump change.

It could also stack really well with this month’s Flying Blue Promo Rewards, which include flights to and from several US cities. Now that I’m flying a family, award taxes and the moderate fuel surcharges added by flying blue can easily add up to north of $1,000 for my family.

Do note the restriction on flight origin: terms dictate that flights must originate in the US and be charged in US dollars to qualify. I find that mildly annoying since I prefer to book flights as one-ways and would therefore book a one-way from Europe to the US — but I can’t do that with this offer since flights need to originate in the US.

Still, for those who will be booking trips with Air France / KLM, this could be a great deal. To my knowledge, there is no way to book an entirely domestic revenue flight on Delta via Air France / KLM (I figure some readers will wonder if they can use this on Delta flights booked via Air France / KLM, and I think that would only work for codeshares to/from Europe).

Not sure how widely available it is. I am 0/5. Was actually looking to book a KLM flight soon so I was hoping for this one. Kinda bummed.
