The American Express Campus Edition card has been a nice little point earner for those with a credit card that earns a bonus at bookstores (see “Exercising the Amex Campus Edition card”). Unfortunately, Amex has sent an email to cardholders saying that beginning February March 1, 2015, they will no longer be able to load funds onto your card at the register at participating bookstores.
Here’s the email:

It looks like I was overoptimistic in my recent post in which I wondered if Amex would be converting the Campus Edition card to a Serve card (see: Serve Student Edition?). Oh well, on to the next thing… And back to my vacation…

Please note the typo above in the first paragraph of this post. It should read, “Unfortunately, Amex has sent an email to cardholders saying that beginning MARCH 1, 2015, they will no longer be able to load funds onto your card at the register at participating bookstores.” It currently provides a date of February 1, 2015. Please update accordingly. Thanks!
Fixed
I wonder if Amex will promote serve cards at the B&N campus stores. It doesn’t seem like very many people were using the campus edition cards to reload in stores so maybe they are pulling out of the market completely.
It would sure be nice if there was some product available there to manipulate.
