Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is happening now! Follow us as Greg, Nick, and Stephen compete to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines before November 23rd. Who will complete the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
Travel Summary recently announced a new TravelCon to be held November 7th in Las Vegas. Apparently the prior TravelCon OC was a hit, so they’ve scheduled another one. In TravelCon OC, I was erroneously listed as a speaker (I was supposed to be listed as tentative). I wasn’t able to make it to that one. This time, I will be there and I will give a talk, but I’m not currently listed as a speaker. It all balances out.
Here’s what Travel Summary had to say about this event:
Like last time, the goal of the program is not only to teach through sessions with speakers informing the audience, but also to encourage attendees to connect with each other to create groups of people to bounce ideas off of. The last time we did this event we stressed the social aspect of this points/miles hobby and we received a ton of positive feedback. We’re planning to do the same here!
It sounds good to me! Please see the Travel Summary post, over at Travel Codex, for more information.
Other events
In addition to TravelCon II, I’ll be presenting at the following events. I believe that all events still have at least a few openings at this time. Click the links provided below for more information about each:

Details and registration info here.
10/16/15-10/18/15: Chicago Seminars

12/4/15-12/6/15: FTU Advanced Newport Beach

[…] TravelCon is/was a one-day event for frequent travelers to learn and discuss advanced topics. Despite its name, TravelCon has focused heavily on manufactured spend techniques (techniques for increasing credit card spend and getting your money back) and only lightly on actual travel. A similar sounding set of seminars (say that three times fast!), Frequent Traveler University (FTU), often has similar content but is usually more focused on travel. And, unlike TravelCon, FTU is usually run as a multi-day event starting with a Friday evening reception followed by info sessions on Saturday and Sunday. […]
[…] earn extra miles (EQPs, actually), I took a circuitous route to get to Vegas for TravelCon 2. I had booked an inexpensive round-trip first class flight from San Juan Puerto Rico to Las […]
I’ll be at FTU Advanced Dallas and am pretty excited about it!
All out west, eh? They’re always an hour or three behind. Hope they can catch up.
Do you think it will be better than the FTU? I felt most topics at FTU were just repeated over and over again about card bonus points and MS. Best part was the networking though in between the meetings and at lunch.
Which FTU are you comparing it to? FTU advanced is very different than regular FTU sessions. I expect that this will be more like FTU Advanced but maybe with more focus on networking.
If you’re in SF, we hold a monthly meetup with group-driven topics. The next one is on October 14th and we’ll be talking about Alaska Airlines, with plenty of time for socializing.
The general level of group is much higher than what you’ll find at an FTU and our goal is to grow and evolve together. (Roughly 700 ppl in the group, ~50 attendees on average)
