Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is happening now! Follow us as Greg, Nick, and Stephen compete to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines before November 23rd. Who will complete the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?

Follow along here!

This morning I published my first comparison of tools designed to help people find the programs that let you book awards for the least miles.  Several readers then reminded me of a tool called Milez.Biz which I had forgotten to include in the comparison.  That was a big miss since Milez.Biz looks promising.

I ran the same Philadelphia (PHL) to Johannesburg (JNB) search on Milez.Biz.  Here is the table I presented this morning, but with Milez.Biz results included on the far right (note that I also added Virgin Atlantic which should have been included in the previous post):

AwardAce FlyerMiler Travel Codex Award Calc Miles.biz
American Airlines Aadvantage 150 150 150 150 150
Air Canada Aeroplan 150 150 150 150
Alaska MileagePlan KLM, BA 140, 155, 160 155 to 160 125 140,160
Alitalia 120 150
ANA Mileage Club 104 170 104 104 104
Avianca LifeMiles 156 156 156 156
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles 145 145, 170, 190 140
Delta SkyMiles 160 140 160 160
JAL Mileage Bank 100 130 to 160
Korean Airlines SKYPASS 120 120 120
Lufthansa Miles & More 185 185 185
Singapore Krisflyer 145 145 161.5 145
United MileagePlus 160 140 to 160 140 to 160 140 to 160 140 to 160
Virgin Atlantic 120 120

On first blush, the addition of Miles.biz doesn’t look all that impressive.  It missed the best available price on Alaska, Alitalia, and JAL.  That said, it was the only tool besides the Award Calculator that found that you can use 120K Virgin Atlantic miles to book round trip business class on Delta (if lightning strikes and you find round trip saver level award availability).

More impressive, Milez.biz returned a huge number of results for my search: 49 separate programs!  That’s far more coverage than the competitors which ranged from 8 to 15 results.  Thanks to Milez.biz’s thoroughness, it identified more cheap results than were found previously.  In addition to the results shown above, Milez.biz found the following programs in which a round trip business class award is available for less than 140K miles:

  • Aegean Miles & Bonus: 110K
  • China Airlines Dynasty Flyer: 120K
  • Czech Airlines OK Plus: 120K
  • Gol Smiles: 105K
  • Turkish Miles & Smiles: 135K

Milez.biz Gol

As I mentioned this morning, there is more that I want from tools like these than just a list of the cheapest mileage options.  I want to know about award booking rules, fuel surcharges, and more.  I will delve into that kind of thing in future posts, and I’ll include Milez.biz in those analyses.
