Officemax/Office Depot will be holding a very good deal on Visa gift cards later this month.
The Offer
Save $15 instantly when you buy $300 or more in Visa gift cards.
Key Terms
- Offer valid in store only 11/20/16 – 11/26/16.
- Limit one (1) offer per customer.
- Discount applied at register.
I had heard of this offer a bit back, but was asked to wait to write about it until the details became public. Thankfully the offer has been released publicly and you can find the full terms here. (Thanks to Doctor of Credit for the offer link.)
Which Cards?
Generally the best cards to purchase during promotions like these are variable or fixed load $200 Visa cards. Variable load cards with a denomination of up to $500 are generally hard-coded as cash only, but the lower $200 denomination cards should be purchasable with a credit card.
Questions?
Visa gift cards sold by Officemax/Office Depot are issued by Metabank. For more info on setting the pin on these cards and liquidating them, see: Beginner’s guide to buying & liquidating Visa & Mastercard gift cards
Tried today and it only worked on $300. The last few times it worked for the $600, but not today. Also, when I used my rewards card, it triggered a manager override after the 4th transaction indicating the deal had already been done. Previously I have bought numerous times on the rewards card and never had an issue.
This one started today… Any data points??
Don’t understand how this is a “very good deal” when compared to previous versions? Or is the limit 1 per person not enforced? Cause paying 3 fees and getting two rebates per trip is way better than paying 2 fees and getting one rebate.
And also curious about how u knew about an office Depot deal ahead of time but who would ask u not to post about it? Just curious, and thanks!
I know it says limit 1, but if I bought $600 in a single transaction would I likely get the $30 off? How has it worked in the past?
guess that depends on the system is set up; won’t be good if the discount won’t be given for the 2nd $300
