Quick Thoughts

The JetBlue offer appears to be highly targeted. Between my wife and I, we only had the offer on one card. A discount on flights could certainly be helpful if you’re already looking at buying a ticket.

On the HotelStorm side, remember that booking through a third party like this will typically eliminate any elite benefits or point earnings on your stay — it may even mean that you have to pay for Wi-Fi. Still, fifty dollars sounds like the right price point to make that trade in some situations. The fact that the terms state “each time” indicate that it is repeatable — meaning that it might be possible to save $50 on every night of a multi-night stay by simply reserving each night separately. That maneuver could necessitate a room switch, but if you book the same room type it is more likely that the hotel will let you keep the same room throughout the stay. I also find this kind of offer useful for a last-minute change of plans — when hotel rates can often be higher.

[…] Amex Offer: $50 back on $200 at HotelStorm: The terms of this offer imply that it is repeatable, so this could be a good way to save $50 on your hotel stays. Just keep in mind that you will probably not receive any elite credits / benefits / points on 3rd party bookings like this. (Expires 10/12/17) […]

[…] Hotel Storm deal first caught my eye since it said 25% off and I know there is also an Amex Offer valid at HotelStorm ($50 back on $200 or more).  I was also just looking up hotel prices for something last night, so […]

I tried to use Hotelstorm to book a hotel but it took me to Booking.com, which doesn’t require any pre-payment. So I’ll pay at the hotel when check out? How is that going to be billed through Hotelstorm?

John

Was wondering the same thing…can you even book at hotel directly at HotelStorm.com?

So for Hotel Storm, I guess this means, as a practical matter, it’s not too useful for Europe? The hotel has to bill in USD?

The Jet Blue offer does not exclude gift cards. Does anyone know whether a gift card will trigger the credit?

Russ

JetBlue doesn’t sell gift cards according to their FAQ
