Recently, Greg wrote about the rumored changes to the FlexPerks program in his post, “FlexPerks to ditch its backup status“. In a nutshell, it was rumored that beginning December 31, 2017 FlexPerks would be worth 1.5 cents each towards travel. That rumor has been confirmed.

A reddit user shared a screen shot of a notice that came with his or her recent statement that states the following (a screen shot can be found in the Reddit thread):

Please be advised of upcoming modifications to your FlexPerks Rewards program:

1) Simplified Travel Redemptoon. Beginning December 31, 2017, the structure for redeeming FlexPoints will be simplified and all car rental, airline ticket and hotel redemptions will be redeemed at the rate of 1.5 cents per FlexPoint. For travel booked before December 31, 2017, the tiered FlexPoint rate schedules that are in place today will apply.

2. Continuous FlexPerks Earning. Effective January 1, 2018, eligible Net Purchases during a calendar year that exceed $120,000 will continue to earn FlexPoints at a rate of one FlexPoint per $1 spent, an increase from the current rate of one FlexPoint per $2 spent.

3. Updates for Charitable Donations. Effective January 1, 2018, donations to over 1,000 new Charitable organizations will be eligible to earn extra FlexPoints. At the same time, the earning rate for all eligible Charitable donations will be reduced from a total of 3X FlexPoints per $1 to 2X FlexPoints per $1.

This is only a confirmation of what was previously thought — but now you can plan accordingly. Whether you prefer to redeem now or later, take the value into account with your redemptions. See Greg’s previous post for more analysis.

I just got a flexperks statement and it looks like Kiva stopped posting as a charity as of 6/30/17. Has anyone else reported this? I had two transactions that gave me the 3x points before 6/30/17 and several after 6/30 that did not post. I haven’t inquired with US Bank yet.
