Yesterday, Greg published his predictions for 2018 (See: Frequent Miler’s 2018 miles & points predictions). One of his predictions was that Marriott would offer breakfast for Gold & Platinum elites at resorts, which have historically been excluded from the elite free breakfast benefit. Another chain which has historically limited its elite breakfast benefit is Hilton — though as of yesterday, Hilton has expanded that benefit: Hilton Gold & Diamond elite members will now receive free continental breakfast (or an equivalent food & beverage credit) for themselves and 1 additional guest registered to the same room at all Waldorf-Astoria properties.

Previously, this benefit included Conrad, Curio, DoubleTree, Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, and Tapestry Collection properties. The expansion to now include all Waldorf-Astoria properties, including resort properties, is a nice enhancement of the breakfast benefit. While the Waldorf-Astoria brand includes some of Hilton’s top hotels, I haven’t stayed at one in years, instead opting for award stays at properties that include free breakfast for elite members.

Now let’s hope that Marriott follows suit and expands its breakfast benefit to more resort properties.

Staying at Beverly Hills in a few days so I called to confirm my room, desk told me thanks for being gold and yes we have your room details confirmed AND I’ll be getting $15 each day as a meal credit not a breakfast but I can put it toward the bill.

What am I going to do with $15 ? No breakfast here is anything near that, maybe a coffee and toast? something is better than nothing, nice little plus for 2018
