Quick Thoughts
Unfortunately, gift cards are excluded from this promotion. It’s been a while since I’ve tried to stack an Amex Offer with Visa Checkout, so I can’t recall for sure whether or not it would stack with the current Amex Offer for 2,000 Membership Rewards points on a purchase of $100 or more.
If you could stack these promotions to get $125 worth of merchandise + 2,000 Membership Rewards points for $100 — and that’s before any shopping portal rewards. That’s not a bad discount at all and one that I’ll probably at least attempt today. It looks like the Staples Black Friday Deals are live, so there are many options for how to put this one to use. Let us know if you make a good find for these offers.
I tried to use this deal on Black Friday and got screwed. After being redirected to the Visa checkout site, I was sent back to Staples and presented with the summary of charges, which said my total came to $330. After I clicked “Make Purchase” or whatever the button is, it came back saying $575 had been deducted from my account! Staples eventually honored their part of the deal and I was refunded $217 after many phone calls, but they refused to honor the Visa checkout promotion. If my order didn’t qualify for some reason, why lead me to believe it did until AFTER I clicked Submit to make the purchase? It all seems very shady, and I don’t trust these Visa checkout scams any more. Be very wary of using this company. I don’t believe they’re actually connected with a Visa at all. Staples should do more to distance themselves from this sort of online scam.
[…] $25 off $100 @ Staples w/ Visa Checkout: This one is scheduled to end 12/27 or when the limit is reached. I’d be surprised if this lasts through Monday. […]
Was able to stack the Visa Checkout and Amex offers. The funny part is that my “Great news!” email from Amex tells me to “look out for a $2000.00 statement credit,” obviously the meant 2000 MR points. A $2000 statement credit on $100 of spend – now, that would really be something!
It does stack with Amex offer.
+1 (to be exact, I’ve received the confirmation e-mail from Amex Offers for an order placed today)

McAfee® AntiVirus is $39.99 with a $39.98 mail in rebate. Currently trying to find something else to add to my cart to hit $100.
Somewhat tempted to buy an item I plan to return, though I’m not sure if they’d prorate the $25 as a 25% discount making the software a $10 MM, or if I’d have a windfall and it’d be a full $25 MM.
I ended up deciding on the following:
$39.99: McAfee® AntiVirus – 1 PC
$59.99: Norton Security Deluxe – 5 Devices
$0.86: Avery Marks-A-Lot® Large Permanent Markers
$100.84 SUBTOTAL
-$25.00 Coupon
$7.75 Tax
$83.59 TOTAL
-$79.98 Rebates
$3.61 TOTAL
I went through Chase portal for 8x UR. I imagine I’ll get points on the $75.84, netting me 606 points (~$13.33 value). Add that to the resale value on the software and it seems like a small win.
