Avianca LifeMiles is offering a 25% transfer bonus on points transferred from Brex, or Capital One, until July 2, 2021.  We reported the Capital One transfer bonus earlier here.  Note that while Capital One shows the transfer bonus in their interface, Brex does not.  You can see the details of the promotion, though, on the Avianca LifeMiles website here.

The Deal

Get 25% bonus miles when transferring points from Capital One “Miles” to Avianca LifeMiles.

  • Valid June 1 to July 2, 2021.
  • Terms state: “A minimum transfer of 1000 LifeMiles is required.”  That said, I went ahead and tested a 500 mile transfer from Brex and 625 miles showed up right away in my LifeMiles account, so clearly that minimum is not enforced.
  • The bonus miles and the transferred miles will be reflected in the account statement in two different transactions.

Quick Thoughts

It’s pretty cool to see a transfer bonus from Brex!  I needed to do a transfer soon to LifeMiles anyway in order to keep my miles alive, so I was happy to test this Brex transfer bonus.

Avianca LifeMiles is a very good program for booking Star Alliance flights.  Award prices are usually cheaper than with United miles and, like United, LifeMiles doesn’t impose fuel surcharges.  On the other hand, they charge a small fee for booking partner awards, their online award search tool is limited, they have high change fees, and dealing with customer service can be challenging.

For ideas for great uses of LifeMiles miles, see: Avianca LifeMiles sweet spots for award flights.

As always, I wouldn’t recommend moving miles to this program for this deal unless you have a specific award redemption in mind.

Greg, Read this article. I know you dont advocate txr miles unless you have a use, but I am tired of Brex and nervous about their longevity. I jumped through hoops on paypal merchant and did not get the 100K. SHould I txr my other 100K brex miles out for cash or you think Avianca is best option as long as I keep on top of 12 month amex txr to avoid expiration?

thanks

Darren

thank you!

[…] A 25% transfer bonus to Avianca is not a rare occurrence (both AmEx and Citi have offered it in the past), but the current offer comes from two other partners. You need to log in to your LifeMiles account to see the promotion (HT: Frequent Miler). […]

Anyone have trouble getting the 80k bonus? Mine didn’t trigger after spend, and when I checked with them, they had no record of me using the OOMAT link. Help!

Hopefully, the Brex Paypal Merchant service points show up soon. I signed up April 23 and Brex told me it should be credited within a month maximum, I still haven’t seen my Brex Points (should be 100,000 points). They confirmed that I was eligible and on the list.

But just today they said to give them until the end of next week. They said Paypal is the one paying for this financially. A bit frustrating that it’s taking so long and no one seems to know who is in charge. Paypal says that it’s Brex and Brex is saying Paypal to an extend.
