5,000 United Miles with new CLEAR+ enrollment

3

CLEAR and United Airlines are out with an offer to earn 5,000 Mileage Plus Miles by signing up for a new CLEAR+ membership. For those with 100% CLEAR+ reimbursement via credit card, like the American Express Platinum, Amex Green, Hilton Aspire, or Business Platinum cards, it amounts to getting 5,000 United Miles to use CLEAR for a year.

Quick Thoughts

My wife and I have CLEAR and enjoy it quite a bit. We probably only use it on 25-30% of our flights, but that 25-30% saves us a boatload of time. It’s also very useful to be able to bypass lines at local sporting events (something that’s not available everywhere). Since Amex offers a $209 CLEAR+ credit with each Platinum card, it’s a no-brainer for us.

CLEAR has offered program-linked incentives in the past, which makes the deal even “clearer,” the most common version being varying amounts of Uber credit. During those promotions, many people were able to receive the credit almost immediately, and without going to the airport to finish sign-up.

The “full” price for CLEAR is $209. The American Express Platinum, Amex Green, Hilton Aspire or Business Platinum card each offer a statement credit for CLEAR of up to $209. There have also been reports of folks being able to trigger this multiple times by simply using different e-mail addresses. YMMV.

Can I get the United miles credited to my account if I sign up for a P10? How to fill out form for that?

Honestly, I don’t really need or want Clear, but I have Amex Green so its free for me to add. Essentially, this is 5,000 United points for signing up (and immediately turning off auto-renew in case I don’t have Amex Green next year).

I hate CLEAR because I get it and tried to set it up at the airport, but it took so much time and didn’t even work (even with one of their employees helping me set it up). I do however like getting uber credits and points from the promo. I probably have 3+ active clear accounts that I never intend to use at the airport.
