Bilt isn’t the only the only one schlepping Avios today, as Capital One is also offering a 20% bonus when transferring Capital One Miles to British Airways (and thus potentially to Aer Lingus, Iberia, Finnair and Qatar as well). With the bonus, the transfer rate is 1 C1 Mile:1.2 Avios.

Obviously, if you have Bilt points, there’s absolutely no reason to mess around with this measly 20% sweetener. In addition, we regularly see Avios bonuses from other transferable currencies of ~25-30%. That said, Capital One only does a handful of these each year, and hasn’t offered an Avios bonus in nearly two years. Given that, if you have a large stash of Capital One Miles and a need for Avios, this might be appealing.

The Deal

  • Transfer Capital One Miles to British Airways Avios and get a 20% bonus (1 Mile – 1.2 Avios).

Terms and Conditions

  • Expires 12/1/24 at 11:59pm EDT
  • Rewards can only be transferred to a Loyalty Program registered to the exact username on the Capital One account. If the account information doesn’t match, the transfer may be delayed.

Best Uses for Avios

  • Business class to Europe from 34K one-way via Iberia. This is one of our favorite Avios redemptions. Iberia charges as few as 34K miles off-peak for one-way in business class on its own flights from New York, Boston, Chicago, or DC to Madrid during off-peak season. The fuel surcharges are quite reasonable and they also run seasonal promotions (usually during the Winter) where the prices drop down even further.
  • Business class South America from 22K one-way via British Airways. Availability can be tricky to find. But when you can find it, BA has excellent pricing for shorter distance non-stop American Airlines award flights.
  • Long Haul Business Class on Qatar Airways. After Qatar's addition to Avios, BA lowered many of their award prices on Qatar. It's now possible to travel between the United States and Doha in business for only 70,000 Avios with minimal surcharges.

where are the quick thoughts?

Regan

Can you please elaborate/clarify ‘ Business class South America from 22K one-way via British Airways.’ ? I remember looking into this in the past but have forgotten. Is this B.A. metal from U.K or U.S.? Thanks.
