American Express uses a variety of methods for microtargeting improved welcome offers, especially for the Business Platinum card. These offers can be targeted by geographic location, browsing history, and other factors. We’ve written about many ways to try to access these offers before, either by using methods to try and get targeted while browsing, calling up Amex by phone, or checking your online Amex account.
Right now, there are two very good offers that seem easier to find via referral links. One gives 200K points and $500 airline statement credit after $20K spend, the other 250K Membership Rewards and the same $500. Each one is easily superior to the current 150K public offer (which we wrote about yesterday).
Let me emphasize that, thus far, we have not come across any referral links that display the improved offers every time, so we can’t use them on our Best Offers page. Just because yours seems to work within your location and browser settings, that doesn’t mean that it will show that offer to everyone who opens it. Please don’t leave any referral links in the comments to this post. They will be deleted by our spam filter.
The Deal
- There are two superior, targeted offers that can be found for the American Express Business Platinum card:
- 200K points after $20K spend in three months + $500 back after $2,500 airfare spend in three months
- 250K points after $20K spend in three months + $500 back after $2,500 airfare spend in three months
- These offers can be found through fresh browsers, using different geographical locations, etc.
- Referral links seems to be more likely to display the offers.
The information about this offer was collected by Frequent Miler and was not provided or reviewed by the issuer. Product details may vary. Please see the issuer’s website for current information.
How to find the improved offers

- Open a referral link in a fresh browser
- It’s always preferable to use a referral from someone in your household, since you’ll be able to add the 15-35K referral points to whatever is available for the welcome offer.
- If it doesn’t work the first time, try another browser instance, configuration or geographical location.
If you don’t have access to a household or friend’s referral link, you can try ours below:
FM Referral Link (not guaranteed to show more than 150K)
- Browse online
- In a fresh browser, look up ‘Amex Platinum Business’ first
- Click the sponsored link. You may see either the 200K or 250k Business Platinum offer. If you don’t, reload or try another browser.
- Call Amex
- In order to check and see if you’re targeted by phone, call the AMEX Small Business Team at (855) 531-3491 and ask about which offers are available for the Business Platinum. Oftentimes, they won’t give you the best offer on the first attempt, so don’t be afraid to decline whatever they tell you first and/or specifically mention a 200K or 250K offer.
Quick Thoughts
Amex has really gone crazy with microtargeted offers over the last couple years, which can be to our benefit if we’re able to find them. Both of these offers are clearly superior to current public offer and are worth the search. Using my wife’s links, I was easily able to find both offers within a few minutes through the techniques listed above.
It’s worth noting that none of these links bypass American Express’ “once-in-a-lifetime” language. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t get approved, and since Amex tells you whether or not you’re eligible for the welcome offer before running your credit report and giving you the card, there’s really no harm in trying. But don’t get your hopes up if you currently have a Business Platinum or have had one within the last few years.

NLL?
It’s discussed in the article.
Found the link ( edge – private mode) – got the pop-up! I’m pretty sure that Amex will only approve me for THEIR pre-approved offers ( less than I can otherwise find) – or it’s pop-up hell

Any idea if United Travel Bank would work for $2500 flight spend?
zero for 5 current biz plats across the household- BUT, all have the 150k & $500/$2500 airfare. AND, I am ASSUMING that the 2500 can be spread over multiple transactions to stack with the $200 credit?
